MF DOOM vs. Del tha Funkee Homosapien

I was discussing this with a friend, it includes all the associated acts like DangerDoom, Madvillain, Deltron 3030, etc.

I think album wise MF DOOM is way more consistent than Del is and has released tons of great albums (Madvillainy, The Mouse and the Mask, Operation: Doomsday, etc.) so he has that going for him but I like Deltron 3030 and No Need for Alarm better than anything MF Doom's done. I don't really think anything MF DOOM's done has topped Deltron 3030 anyway.

Dr_Rez 05-18-2008 05:15 PM

Del. Why? Deltron 3030 and Jaw Gymnastics

So are we aloud to do Vs. threads now? I am confused.

sleepy jack 05-18-2008 05:31 PM

We've always been allowed to they just have to have actual thought put into them and the artists have to actually be comparable.

ProggyMan 05-18-2008 06:59 PM

Like Pink Floyd and King Crimson....
I prefer Del because I've always liked the vibe of stuff like Deltron more than anything Doom's done.

sleepy jack 05-18-2008 07:04 PM

It probably would've been allowed open if you didn't have a both/neither option which basically makes the whole idea of putting them against eachother useless and redundant.

Sparky 05-18-2008 10:01 PM

don't much car for del.

so i guess mf doom wins by default

Alfred 05-18-2008 10:03 PM

MF Doom

pheurton 05-19-2008 12:16 PM

DOOMDOOMDOOOMDOOOOOOOOOOOOM

DOOM!

Inuzuka Skysword 05-19-2008 02:35 PM

MF Doom's flow is much better than Del's.

Dr_Rez 05-19-2008 02:56 PM

But the beats dont even compare.

sleepy jack 05-19-2008 03:02 PM

That depends on the album and I don't really understand the flow argument. I mean if you prefer MF DOOM there are several more legit reasons you could choose like MF DOOM production wise generally stomps all over Del with the exception of Deltron 3030 but I'm slightly biased since Dan the Automator is my favorite producer.

ProggyMan 05-19-2008 03:20 PM

Well Doom does have a better flow and it's a pretty important part of rap.

Sparky 05-19-2008 03:26 PM

Ive found doom's flow to be awful at some points. His lyrics aren't that impressive either.

The only reason i do enjoy him is because of the good people he surrounds himself with, producers or other rappers.

His own production is great as well.

ProggyMan 05-19-2008 04:07 PM

He's done so much with so many different people it's not like he's going to be consistent. I think his flow is usually pretty good though.

sleepy jack 05-19-2008 04:10 PM

That's not very logical. The only thing that would be consistent for him since he works with a bunch of different people would be his flow.

ProggyMan 05-19-2008 04:34 PM

'His flow is usually good'.

sleepy jack 05-19-2008 04:55 PM

In which case you contradicted yourself by making excuses for him and not objecting to matious saying his flow can be awful at some points, which it really can. I don't think his flow is any better than Del anyway I think this is just people trying to use the typical flow argument to justify their choice.

ProggyMan 05-19-2008 05:08 PM

What? I excused him?

sleepy jack 05-19-2008 05:28 PM

Uh yeah, because when matious said his flow was awful at points you made an excuse saying its because he works with a lot of people...which is a pretty illogical statement seeing as most things vocal related which wold be the one consistent then you turned around and said his flow is usually good...if its usually good why try and make an excuse (even a stupid one) for it being awful at times?

ProggyMan 05-19-2008 05:40 PM

Cuz I wasn't talking about the flow. It's my fault for not making it clear but I was talking generally about him, his lyrics, flow everything. Since he's surrounded by different producers he's going to be inconsistent with his lyrics and flow. But his flow is usually good anyway.

sleepy jack 05-19-2008 05:49 PM

So his flow and lyrical abilities are conditional? lol...

ProggyMan 05-19-2008 06:01 PM

It's like when a sports player goes to a new team. He works better with different people.

Sparky 05-19-2008 06:16 PM

examples of his bad flow are on both his solo and group work with other artists.
Its not that he was bad under such and such conditions, but that he has had bad moments in many different conditions.
I still like him, but sometimes i cringe listening to him.

Miltamec Soundsquinaez 05-20-2008 08:09 PM

I voted for Del and I've never even heard of him.

MF Doom is wack.

Sofa King We Todd Did.........Huh Huh, Wow
I'm f*cking 7 years old

15Steps 05-21-2008 08:40 PM

thats hella close, but i gotta go with DOOM

icebox 05-23-2008 10:04 AM

i think that comparing the two, MF DOOM is better than Del. There shouldn't be any poll for this..=))

Metatron 05-29-2008 02:17 PM

Mf Doom Mm..food Is A Classic

timefornothing 06-05-2008 09:50 PM

I didn't see the poll symbol and thought this thread was about some sort of Doom / Del collaboration. WAY TO DISAPPOINT ME AGAIN, INTERNET.

TROY148 07-23-2008 08:30 PM

I love Doom's creativity in his verses, you won't hear any of his rhymes from anybody else. But Del is simply amazing when he's on his game...tough choice I dunno.

Fruitonica 09-08-2008 05:55 AM

I've never heard anything by Del, so this vote doesn't mean much, but I'd go with Doom. Madvillainy is one of my favourite hip hop albums, although a certain amount of that is madlib's production.

Kirby 09-08-2008 03:17 PM

I do believe, by far, Del The Funky Homosapien > MF Doom.

Get I Wish My Brother George Was Here and you'll change your mind.

This poll is just too tough but I like Del slightly better.

15Steps 09-08-2008 05:59 PM

i changed my mind to Del.

Surell 09-08-2008 07:05 PM

Doom has some creative rhymes and really good flow. Never heard Del though.

Once I do, I'll come back and vote.

thanks, I'll check it out.

MF Dooms': Operation Doomsday is one of the best albums ever, in my opinion. But Dooms flow is def. sloppy...but at least its not monotonous like Del. Bottomline: DOOM ALL DAY, BABY!

FireInCairo 09-10-2008 06:14 AM

i hadnt hear del but i gave a few of his albums a spin
hes bitchin
but i still like mf doom a bit more
i think its more his voice than anything

anticipation 09-18-2008 07:09 PM

i've always been a tireless supporter of both these doods, but i gotta give it to DOOM.
due in part to the insane team he's with at both stones throw and nature sounds, and the fact that he's got some of the sickest beats around, he just barely edges Del out.

for me, it'll always go
operation doomsday > i wish my brother george was here > madvillainy > deltron 3030

Peerbreed 09-19-2008 04:41 AM

I haven't liked anything MF Doom has put out. His flow and lyrics leave much to be desired. His production I've found boring and repetitive (Special Herbs). Del on the other hand, his work that I've heard, I've enjoyed for the most part. He's interesting and his voice amuses me. Not my favorite emcee, but he's up there.

skeletorrz 09-20-2008 01:52 PM

has anyone seen the DOOM dunks?
