This threads make things a lot easier for me to just ignore posts in this section by people who put up some **** like Immortal Technique or Aesop as a top 3 rapper.

I think we are really still waiting for that genre-defying emcee to come along to rewrite all the rules and get some forward momentum going in hip-hop. I wait for him/her like Orthodox Jews wait for the messiah. It'll happen.

Weezy? I actually give him more credit as an artist than most of the people on here. He's far from being perfect, but I think he has more integrity as an artist than a lot of folks are willing to see.

I was kidding about him being the rap Messiah (though he'd have you believe that). I do like Wayne, as many people know, and agree with all that jazz and magic you typed, though. The way I see it, he's overrated in the mainstream for being considered the "best rapper alive" by a whole bunch of people who don't really bother with the great underground. But he's underrated but the more elitist/non conformist cats who think he's just all that's wrong with rap; he's largely gangsta rap, but his style is different from everyone else's. If he has anything, it's his uniqueness. He also spits pretty ill, to boot.

Anyway, on this topic, I have a lot of listening to do before I start makin lists like this. Wayne probably won't be on it.

I'm sure I couldn't have said it better if I tried, which I did.

I'm going to go with the 3 MC's that (in my opinion) rap like no others
Rakim- the guy revolutionized flow with the use of internal rhymes
MF Doom- Basically Rakim with a lot more weed and a mask on
Nas- Just cuz

He's a victim to his own want to put a million iffy songs out instead of focusing on having one dope album. But every once in a while he goes in real well. "I Miss My Dawgs" is borderline classic.
