Default Dalek

introduced to me by urban... i got to catch this group perform last night, here's what i wrote about it recently:

"Tue 19 Feb – Russian Circles, Dälek, Young Widows

Somewhere in between Throbbing Gristle and the Wu-Tang Clan lies the magical world of Dalek, filled with computer glitches, swirling noise, and some of the most bitter and cutting lines you will every hear a rapper spit at you. I almost never get very excited about current acts, but it's such a wonderful change to hear a truly revolutionary and progressive group. I don't know how long it will take people to catch on... could be decades... but noise and rap are perfect complements. Nothing puts force behind twisted rhymes and rants like a blast of feedback. Russian Circles were pretty good too, but seemed pretty tepid in comparison."

Really, it was an absolutely amazing show. These guys should be five million times as popular as they are.

Absence is really quite good. An open-minded and knowledgeable troll from another forum turned me onto them.

I haven't heard any of their albums aside from Absence, which I dig very much. It's urgent and honest and has some really beautiful moments. They don't seem to confine themselves to the restrictions of genre, which is something I like in a band. A good example of experimentation gone right!

This is a band I have been meaning to check out from an inclusion in a top 100 from Urban. So much music, so little time.

Finally got hold of Abandoned Language.

It's not too bad , very Massive Attack like.
I was hoping for something a bit more abrasive.

Gutter Tactics has leaked (I think a long time ago, eh who cares whatever I just found it), if anyone's interested. I haven't listened yet but I've heard good things.
