Cadence Weapon has a special place for me because I saw him perform live having not heard of him before and it was excellent. Besides the fact that he kept complaining about the Texas heat his set was amazing - he opened for WHY? and Islands. At one point he had the Islands guy play live drums for him for a few songs. I bought the 'Breaking Kayfabe' CD directly from him and I have listened to it a lot since then. I think he was, like, 18/19 yrs old when I saw him ('06). So, yeah...like him. Based on BF he is one of my favorite rappers from the 00s. BUT have yet to hear Afterparty Babies.

afterparty babies has been out since last year. he's dope.
He was recently named Edmonton's poet laureate...getting co-sings from the Governor General - Edmonton was declared Canada's hip-hop capital. And good for them, I would never associate hip-hop with my image of Edmonton (a city I've yet to visit lol)...but if "conservative Alberta" is making moves like that, props to them. The fact that this happened in Edmonton before Toronto is interesting. |
