I agree with the aforementioned.

Hip Hop Is Dead definitely isn't Nas' best, but it's a good album with some introspective lyrics and good flow.
Although the beats are mildly generic, it doesn't really detract from the lyrics (as in most Hip Hop).

Some favourites off the album:
Money Over Bullshit
Hip Hop Is Dead
Black Republican

The appearances by Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg aren't the best.

Nas HHID i liked. not his best but i like it. Stillmatic IMO is the best. I think Illmatic is somewhat overrated even though i like that also. Jay-Z'a Kingdom come was a let down. should of been gone longer or put better work on it. its got some good tracks but disappointing.

"Kingdom Come" was pretty bad, but I wouldn't say that it makes Jay wack. "The Black Album" was so incredible because it was the album that he always wanted to make but couldn't because of commercial demand. With KC being his big re-entrance back into hip hop, he had to get back on his pop music grind. I don't like to say that one album makes an artist wack, because that's disregarding his entire catalog before it and whatever new music he might make in the future.

As for "Hip Hop Is Dead," I really enjoyed it. The album was generally well-received by NaS fans and included some great cuts, including Can't Forget About You, Carry On Tradition, Still Dreaming, Hip Hop Is Dead, Hustlers, and Black Republican. There are some weak tracks, but nothing that I would say is wack.

And be sure to cop "Illmatic." It's a classic!

I'm not a big fan of NAS, so I'm chancing this post on the thread.

NAS has some great well written lyrics in "Hip-Hop is Dead," but I miss some of the music he created in the 90s.

Hip Hop Is Dead has some good songs on it. Overall it is ok, but you need to get Illmatic now it is one of if not the best Hip Hop albums ever.
