I like it. Abstract can be great if it's done well and I think he does it really well.

I'm sure I've said it a thousand times, but it's Eminem by far. Ali next, and then Aesop waaay down the line.

Aesop Rock is infinitely better than Eminem or Brother Ali.

Here's what Aesop has to say about who you deal with in order to make a lot of $$ from rap music..

Quote:

The pigs, the pigs, the dregs of which I'll aim for -
the gluttonous muddy stomachs under the pudgy cakehole
two-track braniac usin' the food and payroll
to chew up and consume every cookie crumb and peso
and place a cloven hoof on the lucrative when convenient
as the bourbon odor smokers' cough smolder off the C.O.E.B.A.
If Noah had the benefit of hindsight on his ship
he coulda snatched two unicorns and left behind the motherfuckin' pigs

Goddamn pigs!
Pot belly pigs!
Punch drunk pigs!
Take money money pigs!
Loud mouth pigs!
Wide load pigs!
Let's make a deal...
I can see why he isn't interested. Em sure doesn't mind though. Who knows how good his music could be if not for the pigs

He's not a battler. That doesn't mean he's not a better rapper than either of them.

Surreal should have been on this list. Check him out on:

Surreal - The Surface.

I can't decide who to vote for.

Agreed. Aes is one of the few people who can keep me entranced through abstractness for an entire album.

And when he has something important to say, he usually does it with finesse and intelligence, which I greatly admire.

Well I prefer Eminem and Sage Francis, but Aseop isn't too bad either...
