I've listened to a little Royce. So far, he's a gangsta rapper. So because he can keep things in a gangsta state, he is true Hip Hop? Sure he's good; so is Wayne (shut up Kirby) and Chris. Alejo, you said in the Wayne thread (or at least implied) that Wayne isn't horrible. POS isn't a legend, he's just a good rapper. Same for Lupe, Doom, MIA, and Pip. Also, explain why you thought Metaphor (mc chris) was a song.

There's a difference between having fun and making a mockery of what hip-hop was formed from. Run through MC Chris's title list...it's definitely a mockery and a joke. "Motown 25" is a great example of some guys going out and having a great fun time on the mic..."Cookie Breath" is not an example.
It's fine if you enjoy it, but arguing that it's "greatest white rapper" of all time worthy is just wrong, and if you truly believe that then it's real hard to take your opinions seriously. And to Surrell, I just used the term legends because I was going to say run of the mill and didn't want to down a few of the legends abilities on there so just used the term loosely.

I'm not calling him one of the greatest white rappers because he has some weird ass song subjects, I'm calling him that because he can spit. His flow is good, he can keep to a concept, he can use words well. I've said this all before but, hell, I might as well reiterate.
And sorry I listen to "run of the mill" artists. But I think they're that way because they're good.

He sticks to a subject? Wow we're really setting the standards high. The subjects he mentions are meaningless and more of a deterrent to any ability he may have [which is doubtful]. It evokes no emotions at all.
"Use words well" is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Nas "Rewind" is the shining example that using big and complex words isn't necessary at all. In fact, when overdone it is more of a negative than how it could help.

I don't know how using intelligent vocabulary could be a negative, but uh, Ok, whatever you say.
And from many of the rappers I've heard, they jump around with their subject matter a lot of the time. mc chris pretty much takes a specific concept and lays down a track on it (Older Crowd, Hoodie Ninja, Beetlejuice). And listen to Freaks or Never Give Up if you think he doesn't evoke emotion. Everyone comes from different backgrounds though, so I'm sure you're so fuckin street you can't relate to anything mc chris raps about. I still don't understand why you think Metaphor is a song.

The reason intelligent vocabulary can get in the way, if overused, is because it can sound forced.
Some rappers can sound like they picked up a thesaurus and looked for big words JUST to use them.

Well that's some rappers. Sounds good on others. I like it when I can tell the MC isn't just a half retarded thug, but pretty book smart also.

Cuz I like mc chris? I'll take you seriously as soon as you hop off of Em's dick, as stated earlier. Didn't you put him down as one of the best rappers ever? I doubt you even gave mc chris a serious listen, so get the fuck out of my face with that bullshit.
