Wu-Tang Clan - 8 Diagrams
Opinions?
For me aptitude has been lost with maturity, albeit all the R.I.P O.D.B **** is getting old. He's ****in' dead, stop lamenting him and scraping every last drop out of him. |

The more and more I listen to it I appreciate it more and the direction there were going in with this album. I don't think it's for everyone that was expecting Wu to come back hard and heavy. You can tell they matured a bit from the same old same old in your face street crap. Even though I love Wu when they are like that but it's nice to hear a change of pace. |

you are generalizing too much and comparing apples to oranges...but w/e and they aren't losing their zeal to me...just trying something slightly different. they have a harder "street" album coming out soon, atleast that's what I gathered from RZA's interview. |
Then I shall look forward to that.
|
I didn't hear about the "street" album. But I look forward to any Wu-Tang album.

Wu-Tang in Denver
Yo listen. If you have any doubts about the current state of Wu-Tang come to the show at the Ogden in Denver on the 20th. I saw Ghostface there with Hip Hop live about a month ago and, no ****, it was one of the best shows Ive seen! Wu-Tang will be even better!
|
Okay, I was wrong about the "street" album....I think Rza was referring to Gza's new solo album that's more in the "street" vein.

the album is interesting because it's definitely not Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) or Fishscale or anything like that. It's definitely a mood album. its tough because sometimes you're loving what RZA's doing and then there are other times where you feel that RZA is over-experimenting or something. if youre open minded to hearing RZA's experiments in this "different" Wu-Tang album, then you'll love 8 Diagrams. If, like Ghostface or Raekwon, you'd rather hear the good old 36 chambers, 8 diagrams is not the best Wu album for you. for me, there's a little too much singing and melody, but it's good. not a big fan of the quitars. also there seems to be a lack of unity as a Clan. however, RZA (and everyone else) keep coming up with new sounds and at this point are really unpredictable, so here's 8 diagrams.
and **** the haters the Clan loved Russell Tyrone Jones because he was their brother. the whole "life changes" stuff is not a marketing scheme. they simply want him to be remembered as one of the best in the game. rest in power, dirt mcgirt |
this album's not all that good, is it
|
Yea, after lota listening, im very disappointed.

I enjoy it; it's about on par with The W and Iron Flag. I do like the more laid back and, err, 'meaningful' style they've done and it's a good tribute to ODB. Unfortunately, the rifts that have grown between some of the members does appear to show in some songs, 'Campfire' comes to mind. Some of the verses just didn't seem like the members were really giving it their full attention because of whatever reason (solo projects, rifts in the group etc.). Overall, I still think the album is at least an 8/10 and one of the better ones from 07.

Because I'm a critic, and have my own opinions, suffice to say the clan are on a downward spiral anyway. Again my personal preference.
|
two words makes this album ace.......George Clinton....his work on the track wolves and his hilarious freestyle at the end of tar pit....makes me listen to this album at nausea
