I see them both as nothing more than commercial crap rap, and I fail to see what the big deal is about either of them.
They both lose.

Neither are particularly good MCs, with Kanye probably less gifted in terms of actual skills than Fiddy. West however is an OUTSTANDING producer. Production is his forte. He makes excellent beats and mixes generally recognized for their high quality by fans of commercial and underground rap alike, regardless of whether or not they like him. So there ought to be a "big deal" about Kanye at least. Fiddy got his reputation largely from other things, and far as I know doesn't make his own beats at all.

Fifty makes the flow for his music so he gets co-writing credits...Kanye produces his albums and writes his own horrendous, self-obsessed lyrics. He's a pretty good producer, but can't compete with Blockhead, EL-P, etc.
