Except the ones he doesn't create...which is pretty much all of them. Not to mention he's a terrible emcee and is overrated by his fellow rappers and fans. So no, I wouldn't call him a musical genius, in any sense. There's too many good hip-hop artists out there like El-P, Nas, and Wu-Tang to call a hack like Kanye a genius.

Don't be ridiculous, he was a producer before he became a rapper.

In Kanye's defence, 'Slow Jamz' is the only modern R&B song that I think has any merit at all. And that's down to his production.

Hahaha As proggy said, he started as a producer. So who do you think makes all his music...come on now.

I understand he was a producer before he was a rapper. I'm not knocking him for that (and I think he was damn good at it too). He didn't create all his own beats, though, and if you're gonna call Kanye a good hip-hop artist for being a good producer, then Rick Rubin is an AMAZING hip-hop artist. Never mind the fact that he's an overweight, middle aged white man with less emceeing skills than my deaf grandfather.

i wish he would only produce and let the good guys do the rapping for him.

He could still have plenty of credit and recognition if he did it under a new title, like what danger mouse did with 'gnarles barkley, or like madvilliany'

win-win

Are you serious? fifty repeats everything its either money sex violence and drugs fifty is a stereotypical rapper and kanye at least tries to be different

He definitely not more materialistic. 50 cent is the king of rapping about money. Take his new song for instance...I get Money.
