I agree with others who feel "Dance with the Devil" is probably Immortal Technique's best song because of the disturbing story. I haven't heard all of his songs, though, so I can't judge them all.
Which of his songs do I dislike the most? Earlier some people complained about his politics and worldview. If his song "Beans and Broccoli" truly represents what he knows about vegetarianism, then Immortal Technique has no awareness or understanding of the environmental benefits, health benefits, and animal welfare benefits of plant-based diets. He thinks vegetarianism is just a "dietary choice" that only impacts the taste of the foods you eat. I was surprised by how narrow-minded his views on vegetarianism appear to be, so his song "Beans and Broccoli" is the one I dislike the most:

EXACTLY. I was introduced to IT by some youngster potheads like it was the holy grail of Hip Hop... but I've never understood it. I still am holding out, I gotta really give it a fair listen again but so far, not really diggin it. His voice is irritating and his arguments are exactly the kinda hair brained stuff potheads talk about. Meh, I dunno... not really impressed.

The beats are excellent his flow is good and some of his put downs and metaphors are unreal. Id imagine he is an awsum battle mc. You really should give him another listen. As for his politics, he comes across as pretty intelligent to me, some of his arguments are simplistic but when he is fighting against the likes of Fox news and American conservative journalism in general its only natural for him to gravitate towards their level. Its not as if his target audience will be fulll of well educated men now is it. |

"I was watching the Towers, and though I wasn't the closest I saw them crumble to the Earth like they was full of explosives ... They dubbed a tape of Osama, and they said it was proof "Jealous of our freedom," I can't believe you bought that excuse" "Bush knocked down the towers" "But when I'm gone they'll sing a song about Immortal Technique Who beheaded the President, and the princes and sheiks" but there are also lyrics in his songs that are powerful and clever: "Put your hands in the air like you got the heat to your back and shake your body like a baby born addicted to crack And since life is a gamble like the crabstables at Vegas I freestyle my destiny, it's not written in pages" "But that will never be me, cuz I am leavin' the past like an abused wife with the kids, leavin' your ass Like a drug addict clean and sober, leavin' the stash unbreakable Technique leavin' the plane crash I'm out with the black box and I refuse to return" "This is for the illest emcees that'll never be known And this is for all the soliders that'll never come home I wrote this for Momia, stuck in a beast For people who, march in the streets, and struggle for peace" but a God of hiphop, or a top 10 MC, he definitely is not |

He speaks his mind, that's what I like about him. Problem is, as soon as you mention a "conspiracy theory" people label you as nuts even if there is more facts supporting your theory than the actual reason the media and government gave to joe public.
Anyway... As a rapper he's decent. Nothing spectacular, i listened to him for the topics more than his lyrical ability. People seem to think he's a lyricist because he uses "big words" lol..a common mistake within our culture I'm afraid. I prefer his earlier stuff from Revolutionary Vol. 1 and 2. His enwest stuff has been quite weak although he did do an awesome track with Lowkey, who in my opinion is a far superior rapper. @ VEGANGELICA - nothing wrong with vegans and vegetarians but when they try to force it upon their children that's where the problem begins. Especially vegans, children need milk and dairy products to help their growth, this is fact. And you can't get it from chewing on alternatives. Children are ending up with rickets and **** now because these vegan parents are to retarded to look after their childs health, they would rather watch them die living by their stupid vegan ways. anyway..rant over.

I really like Dance With the Devil as I'm sure many people do, but of the two songs i heard by him his rap persona reminded me a lot of Nas in flow and rhyme scheme, etc. But yeah, he's an acclaimed artist from what it seems, what should I check out?
