most people that like the rappers that are socially conscience don't go out to clubs/dancing.
you can't dance to a song that's heavy/deep and trying to make you think....maybe they can but it just doesn't work that way nowadays....you either have a catchy club banger or you have a deep seeded message within the lyrics...the beats are usually totally different between the two so it's not as fun to dance to |

Tupac's dead, so he's automatically off the list (read the thread title). Akon's a gimmick artist, listen to his voice. He's just a trend that will hopefully pass soon. 50's last album was a flop, but he was doin it big up until then. 50 has catchy tunes, but he has shallow, typical rap lyrics "I got shot 9 times, I'm a gangster, I sell rocks, I get bitches, etc." Eminem is definitely up there, but we'll have to see how his new album is when it comes out later this year.

lil wayne is a beast but not as consistent as jay-z his rhymes are either amazing or horrible he still aint dropped anything even close to the blueprint but thats just my opinion plus i ain't all that bling bling rep your hood music no more anyway
