Immortal Technique (rapper, quote, songs)

I don't understand pointless, incessant arguing over who is better than whom when it comes to any genre of music - including hip-hop. We have our own preferences, so why not just respect that aspect of listening, discussing and suggestions?

Though there are numerous artists out there who make music in hopes to explain or suggest their political and societal perspectives, I think those who fall under the category of hip-hop are rare. I've yet to hear anyone with lyrics and flow such as Immortal Technique. Not only is he pursuing and urging an awakening in the people, but he is evolutionary to the hip-hop world. Sure, I respect and enjoy a good story teller, freestyles, and hip-hop artists who set there focal point on blunts, guns and bitches, but a person who can help expose the government and the media as the cowards and puppets they are, truly deserve a higher level of recognition than the redundancy that is consistently recycled on the radio and in clubs.

Immortal Technique doesn't deserve recognition for that considered most of the things he "exposes" are stupid conspiracy theories (e.g. George Bush blew up the World Trade Center.) If anything he deserves to be mocked along with Mos Def for pretending he knows what he's talking about.

Immortal Technique really lays on the pseudo-intelligent BS pretty hard, but he's still a decent rapper. If I really wanted to listen to conspiracy theories I'd pull out a Jedi Mind Tricks album.

I agree, I often find myself listening to him and wondering if he found that certain conspiracy at the same website I did. When he breaks away from that though he has some really good songs, like "You Never Know ft. Jean Grae".

Agreed on Saul Williams and the song "You Never Know".

As for "conspiracy theories", I'd prefer to not talk about them in this thread. I don't know if I could clump Mos Def and I.T in one group, sleepyjack. And yeah, they can come off a bit like know-it-alls, but what rapper doesn't have that type of attitude at one point or another? Also, I.T states in one of his songs of Revolutionary Vol. 2 that he doesn't think Bush blew up the twin towers. As for what he raps about, it's not strictly "conspiracy theories" - what about the songs in which he speaks out against racism? And what of the songs about freedom and oneness? If you think speaking out about this makes him a conspiracy theorist and that we truly are free and one, I don't really know what else to say.

I've listened only to a few tracks and they were alright. I don't know if any of this albums will compare to Vol 2. I have it on vinyl and it's so much better! His work is by no means perfect, but who's is?

333, I really hope you don't think I was trying to pigeon hole what Immortal Technique stresses in his music, but a good amount of his material does across that way.
