Jay-Z Announces New Album---Who Would Have Though?

http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=7266

Who actually thought he would stay retired?
Oh well, I don't mind..Jay Z owns.

DearJenny 09-18-2006 10:41 PM

Jay-Z is one rapper I can stand. I liked the Collision Course album with Linkin Park. Jay-Z is cool wit' me.

bungalow 09-18-2006 10:42 PM

I am ashamed to like a rapper who collaborated with Linkin Park, but Jay-Z is so cool that I can forgive him.

DearJenny 09-18-2006 10:43 PM

^lol, it was a fun CD.

rockthepotter 09-18-2006 11:10 PM

Yeah my favorite thing about Jay-Z was when he begged MTV to show the end scene of one of his music videos of him being shot 30 times. That was pretty cool. As of him retiring, he is like every other rapper. He will never give up "The Game."

bungalow 09-18-2006 11:16 PM

And rock musicians don't do the same thing?

rockthepotter 09-19-2006 11:11 AM

I don't know do they? They come out with Greatest Hits all the time, but do they actually come out of retirement?

Dizz-E 09-19-2006 11:19 AM

The Michael Jordan of rap.

MURDER JUNKIE 09-19-2006 03:50 PM

If he's retired then why do I see his stupid ass on TV everyday???

bungalow 09-19-2006 03:54 PM

I hardly think he is stupid, he makes about triple what you make a year, on a daily basis.
He is the CEO of two record labels, a multi-platinum selling musician, and he owns a professional basketball team. And he is 37.

What do you do MURDER JUNKIE?

MURDER JUNKIE 09-19-2006 03:56 PM

Elton John earns more than me as well, it doesn't give me the urge to go out and suck a d!ck though

bungalow 09-19-2006 03:58 PM

What does that have to do with anything?
Elton doesn't get paid to suck d!ck.

ha, 'paided'

I've heard a couple of his songs, and didn't like them at all.

MURDER JUNKIE 09-19-2006 04:01 PM

I don't know, you were trying to get me to like Jay Z based on how much money he made. Elton has way more money

bungalow 09-19-2006 04:02 PM

I wasn't trying to get you to like him, what post of mine were you reading?
I said he is far from stupid.

It's funny that a kidwhotypesslikethis would correct a typo in my post

Elton John is a great musician(notice I said Musician not Lyricist). By the way if Elton John got paid for sucking **** he probably wouldn't have to much money. I think he "came out" towards the latter half of his career if I am correct.

swim 09-20-2006 03:30 PM

He didn't use that to say he was a good musician. He used that to say that he wasn't stupid. I personally think he's an ok musician so while I'm not anticipating this album I will give it a listen.

half_baked87 09-20-2006 03:34 PM

i'm looking forward to it, jay-z is good stuff. he's definitly not stupid, and comparing him to paris hilton is an abomination. that totalled peice of meat just talked like a slut over some samples and presto! album. complete crap.

I think the lot of you f*ckers are blind.
Go back and find the post where I said that his music was good because he had a lot of money, if you can't, then quit acting like you are f*cking proving a point jackass.

I also like how you left the part of my post where I said 'i hardly think he is stupid' out of the quote. You had to physically delete that bit, why did you?

sleepy jack 09-20-2006 03:39 PM

You were warned yesterday about the name calling.
&now, no more eltonjohn and back on topic.

sainthood 09-22-2006 02:29 PM

Aight, ****, let me get back on-topic.

Way I see it, Jay-Z is a rap icon - love or hate, there's no denying the impact he had/has.

Since he announced his retirement everyone was talking about him dropping some more albums. Why not? The guy could go on till he's 50 and people would still think he's one of the baddest people alive.

I don't know what's it's gonna sound like. Maybe he got all soft from doing all that **** with Beyonce.... :p

But I salute his return. Though I probably won't pick it up, I still think he belongs in the game for life.

Laces Out Dan! 09-22-2006 02:31 PM

Jay Z is the shit, hes only one of few rappers that i enjoy to listen to

ryder 09-23-2006 02:12 AM

i like Jay-Z and i'll cop his album when it comes out.

rockthepotter 09-25-2006 12:02 AM

Everyone knew his return would come sooner or later. He could go on till he is 50 and do what Dr. Dre does. I mean that guy doesn't rap anymore but he produces some series stuff with major names and he is part of a major label. So yeah. You could stay "in the game," till you were in your 60's if you really wanted to. Snoop is getting up there too. Oh and look at the Isley Brothers, those dudes have been putting music out for like 50 years.

Oh Rock Artists do it all the time....they do six or seven farewell tours before they finally decide to give it up and some even decide to bring out new albums....case in point....The Who and their upcoming album.

Yes.

riseagainstrocks 10-03-2006 05:16 PM

There are far to many generalizations in this thread.

I've never liked Jay-Z and don't plan on starting to.

RHYMEFESTkillah 12-02-2006 07:05 PM

Kingdom Come is really good, probably only 4 or so songs that I don't like.

Freaky Styley 12-20-2006 11:54 AM

I personally do not care for Kingdom Come.

What happened to Jay- Z saying he was going to go out strong instead of slowy fading from the scene?

same here. i only like 7 of the tracks. thats better than most the albums out there but i excpected this album to be in one of his best along with The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt & The Black Album.

Freaky Styley 12-21-2006 06:42 AM

Yeah, The Black Album was the shit. He definitely had some high expectations to fill when he announced the debut of his new album.

littledude 12-21-2006 01:01 PM

the album is not as good as previous but it is still pretty hot.
