Default Lupe Fiasco

Does anyone here know when Lupe's "Food And Liquor" album comes out to stores in the Maryland area? I heard that his songs from that album that bootleggers are getting are all fakes, and Lupe re-did his entire album, so that not even the bootleggers can't get them. That just makes me want to get his album even more...

Isn't this guy just a massive wanker? Like Lil' Wayne? If somebody can convince me otherwise I'd be chuffed.

Food & Liquor was solid and showed some great promise, and The Cool was a great follow up in my opinion. Yeah, it's a bit more patchy than his debut, but there is some serious bangers on there. Some of the older heads who prefer traditional stuff really hate that it has that 'new jack' sound - lots of synth etc but that doesn't bother me in the least.

As for him being a wanker, i'm not really sure. From what i've read he seems to be a bit of a 'black nerd' - into skating and some prog music like Pink Floyd. On the other hand he has been involved with drug dealers and stuff. You don't know what to believe. I tend to separate the artist from the art anyway.

God, The Cool is exactly the direction I hope Hip Hop doesn't take.

I can understand exactly why people dislike it, but I think there is room for more than one direction within a genre. I find this newer sound hard to resist when done well.

Na, he's placid but there seems to be a honest sincerity about him. I'm just going off of interviews though.

I've checked out some videos now, calling him a wanker is just my knee-jerk reaction with any modern mainstream hip-hop... he's not too bad actually.

Lyrically he's not as vapid as I assumed he'd be, more Kanye than primetime thug? 'Dumb It Down' is pretty sick, but Fiasco's production style I'm never gonna be big on, it's made for clubs.
