Oh wow, I've been feeling "I'm Beaming" so much I entirely forgot about "Shining Down". Not to wank the guy off but Lupe is da shizz. Lyrically he has some of the most complex metaphors I have ever heard in hip-hop (which can be a negative or a positive depending on how you look at it). If you look at his earlier mixtape suff, tracks like "Lupe the Killer" and "Failure", he shows the qualities of a great MC. Nice wordplay, deep metaphors, not much of a message though (they are mixtape tracks after all). But yeah, Lupe is nice in my not so humble opinion.

Lupe is the truth. The guy is super talented. The world been ready for Lupe he just doesn't get the press he needs. I'm a huge Wheezy fan but I rather bump Lupe. He needs more club hits so people can hear his real $h*t.

Saw him live with my sister the other weekend. He put on a great set, great energy, but the event planning was kind of suspect - he didn't get on stage until after midnight, and the support act was not great. Near the end of his set, after so many hours in the middle of the crowd I was too exhausted to do anything but sway.
I'm concerned about his new album, a lot of the songs had a grungy feel that I wasn't so keen on - but I'm not sure how much of that was just the live instrumentation. |

That planning sounds terrible, that sucks. Same thing happened when I saw The Roots and Common - both acts came out over an hour late, so by the time they came on I had been standing stationary for 2 hours.
I'll be seeing Lupe in either a week, or a couple of months in San Francisco if that doesn't work out.
