Where do you see rap in the next 20 years?
Same commercial sh*t? Or is rap going to head back to its roots? Or will everything just be blends by then. For example a rock/rap mixed genre taking over? What kind of rap do you think your kids will be listening to?
Personally I don't know, but i'm hoping rap will become more lyrical, and less commercial. :hphones: :pimp: |
It looks like it's getting more and more commercial everyday.
In twenty years I imagine there won't be an underground Sad really |
Usually in any genre there`s a reaction to what the stale mainstream is putting out.
With so many rap artists putting out lame remixes of 80s & 90s tunes , clothing lines , appearing in movies and basically just taking the money & running I think hip hop is primed & ready for an underground movement to burst the bubble and show up some of these 'stars' for exactly what they are. |

It's hard to make any prediction of the underground scene/movement. In time most underground will probably "sell-out" and become commercial. Probably because mainstream artists are going to get fewer and fewer, and who better to take their place?

Look at Nas. He's mainstream but good. |

The industry usually changes a rappers focus and style. But, if it weren't for this and underground became commercial...the sh*t would be fire and rap music would "survive." **As a side note tho, Im hella excited for his new album under Def Jam, I hear jigga is makin an appearence on it.. |

Nas vs 50 cent the game chingy = Nas I won't go as far as to say he's better than Jay-Z because my opinion will be a little biased sice I don't care too much for Jay-Z's lyrics or his beats but I do aknowledge the fact that he's better than a lot of other rappers. |
Samples will become public domain once again and people can start bringing it up to the level that it used to be at before sampling was outlawed. Then all would be right with the world.
*sigh* |
Hopefully it goes back to underground, because the mainstream **** they're producing today just doesn't exemplify its original roots at all.
