I'm resurrecting this thread, because I haven't gotten a chance to talk about my favorite hip hop artists yet.
So here goes. My girlfriend introduced me to them back in '05. I went out and bought Do You Want More??? and Phrenology at the same time. I enjoyed them both very much. I didn't get to see them until Bonarroo 2007, and it was ****in' phenomenal. If anybody hasn't witnessed their cover of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War", let me do you favor. Right? Anyway, I was blown away. And then I saw them about 3 months later at my local House of Blues. And they played "Masters of War" again. I think I scared my girlfriend's friends with how excited I was during the show. I was one of maybe ten people in a crowd of 2,000 who was dancing, but I didn't care. Anybody who can go to a Roots show and not move is a ****in' puppet. I actually bumped into a white guy in a Grateful Dead T-shirt who gave me a dirty look. What a fool. |

Yeah, it's just an okay album-- but I mean, it's still The Roots!

I'm excited about hearing How I Got Over, can't wait for that to come out. My favorite album, so far, is Game Theory. Simply love that ****. The Roots have been a favorite hip hop band of my mine for a while now, but I didn't get to see them until last year. They played a free 4/20 concert on the Mall in DC with O.A.R. (acoustic set), Gov't Mule, Umphrey's McGee, and some other people. It rained on us, but it was a sick concert and totally worth it.
