I went with Stankonia but Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik is a close second.

Stankonia without a doubt.

It had Ms Jackson, Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh & So Clean and B.O.B.

Aquemini for me is their best album. It's so ambitious, and the production has a real textural quality that makes the music that bit more interesting. I appreciate the intelligence in their lyrics too, they particularly stand out on Aquemini.

Stankonia does run it close.

I would say Stankonia was their strongest, the only downside to me is that album really brought them into the mainstream worldwide-I cant listen to many of their singles anymore as I thought tracks such as Mrs Jackson were really overplayed by radio and tv at the time. I can still hear that song without clicking on that play button! I think all their albums are worth listening to aside from their debut (the reason is because I havent heard Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik), but then outkast havent released an album since 2003, if you dont count their 2006 soundtrack album Idlewild. Its been a long time.

Put me down for Aquemini, I like the kind of psychedelic, spacey trip-out of it. Plus it has my favorite Outkast song in:

I'm surprised ATLiens only has 3 votes. Elevators is a GREAT song.

I voted for ATLiens. Wheelz Of Steel has me hooked every time I hear it. Aquemini was a close second, probably 1B.

I wouldn't have included Big Boi And Dre Present... because it's a greatest hits, however, still a good poll for a well deserved duo.

Each album has their own feel to them and a vibe about what the group was going through during this time.

ATLiens: is their most preachy and intellectually significant work. Spacey feel. This seems to be when dre was going through a spiritual rebirth. I don't think this was their best album, but two dope boys, ATLiens and wheelz of steel might be the three strongest opening songs to an album i have ever heard.

Aquemini: This is their best, I think. I feel like the two became comfortable with themselves and their style during this album. They aren't preaching as much as telling the world about the black community as they see it.

Stankonia: this is the only album that flows so well that their raps almost feel effortless. it is all so smooth. The production value was spectacular as was the use of different backing music. The problem is you can tell dre wasn't fully into it. He seems more interested in doing what he did in 'love below'. If you pay attention, Big Boi is truly the driving force of the raps.

Speakerboxxx...: I honestly haven't listened to dre's album enough to critique it, but Big Boi's album is good. It is unique enough and experimental enough while still being conservative enough to be enjoyable. It is more about his life instead of broad strokes of the black community. He has become introspective and seems to be influenced by his family and looking back at his past. It almost can't be counted as a Kast album given its solo nature.

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik: I put this last because I'm not sure how it fits with their true personalities. sure there is social commentary, but I'm not sure how true the content is to their real personalities. There is less than two years between this and ATLiens; did they really change that much in a couple of years?
Come to of it, I'm not sure how true any of their work is to their real selves. they are sold as a player and a poet. They never stray from these personas and the cynic in me wonders if this was a marketing ploy. or maybe a vehicle for them to speak their message from two points of view.

1. Aquemini
2. AtLiens
3. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
4. Stankonia
5. Speakerboxxx/ love Below

And, yes, Speakerboxxx/Love Below was their most disappointing, albeit most successful, work. Stankonia marked the moment where Andre and Big Boi didn't want the same thing from their music anymore and it's a damn shame.

Agree with everything you said.
i put stankonia pretty low there myself, i don't think the heavy rock sampled sound has aged as gracefully as aquemini.

Another release by them seems pretty unlikely anytime soon, but i read a while back that big boi is hard at work on shutterbug 2.
