3-6 mafia
3-6 mafia picked up an oscar for their song "its hard out here for a pimp" from the movie hustle and flow. the academy awards were supposed to be a black tie affair, but the mafia boys showed up in their street clothes. i personally thought their acceptance speech was a little obnoxious, and they could have portrayed a little more class.

I thought it was great.

When I said great I meant funny

No offence to all of the blind out there, but there is absolutly nothing classy about mainstream rap. Nothing at all. And whats the most sick is that theres the feeling that their attire was acceptible.
I unfortunatly have first hand experience that this isn't a lack of class, its a giant mental deficiency. |
I agree with Big here. Nothing classy.
To be fair. The 36 boys DID show up in proper attire, but did not change after their performance. I am an actor and a screen writer. I don't believe that great actors/screen writers/ etc etc... work their whole lives to get an Oscar, and the Three Six Mafia got one. That disgusts me. I thought the same when Eminem won. But I was less digusted, because his music was interesting at least, to me. |
Ooops sorry about that.
Another person said that if they hadn't won they could use all the gold in their mouth to make their own grammy. |

um..three six have been doing pretty much the same style of rap since they started and at that time it was the farthest thing from mainstream rap. you couldnt get anything even remotely similar to it unless you happend to be at a local record store in the south. I personally think theyve kept it real. from their first album, to the last they pretty much do what theyve always done. In my opinion they pretty much started "crunk" music. screw lil' jon, mike jones, and all the others that capitalized on something 36 started. Im glad they got an oscar, they deserve some recognition. |
i thinks its great they won who cares how they were dressed. dress the way u want not the other way pricks want you to dress.
|
When you're out there makin' dollars, as opposed to those who are makin' sense, you dont have alot of time to get out of your Tims and Good Times White Tee.

And you still didn't address the lack of class. |
they were in tuxes but then they had to perform so crunchy and paul took theirs off and they won the oscar right after that

Greatest acceptance speech ever. |
CLASS?! CLASS?! Are you serious? Three Six Mafia is the opposite of class. And thats why they are the best. Them goin mainstream? Wild. Good money for them, but your avg Joe can't handle them. It takes a special person to be a true fan.

I love them as far as production goes....having two producers coming up to create those southern anthem type beats is what they excel at. I would have to say the most known unknown is their best with Last 2 Walk a close runner up this has to be my absolute fave song from their old stuff though This song was made! for captain planet lol |
Right here dude.
I don't take Three 6 very seriously, but they're music is fucking hilarious. |
When they came to Nashville they played at the area's cougar den. That alone kept me from checking them out.
That song dj posted was funny though. |

pretty sure young buck was like 18 on this track |
all of three 6 mafia's albums are good imo. I only listen to a few rap bands/artist and they are one of them. I liked last 2 walk and Most known unknown just as much as the old stuff.
|
I don't like them at all. I don't know they just really irk me.
|
isn't one of their members named "Crunchy Black"?
|
Hah yeah, along the likes of Juicy J, Lord Imfamous, Gangsta Boo.. three 6 have the best stage names ever.
|
Their production is pretty much dope most of the time. You sort of just have to appreciate them for who they are. Nobody is going to say they're the greatest or even in the discussion, but fun music to listen to.
Though Young Buck's verse on the song I posted is real serious, one of his top verses [not that there's tons to chose from]. |
Three 6 Mafia
Great Aren't they! I ecspecially like Poppin My Collar
|
They are nice if your looking for some pretty cool or original background beats (Nice bass on several songs), though their lyrics are pretty un-inspired, as well as lacking in flow for the most part.
|
In terms of content, Three 6 are actually real good spitters for their style. I've been on a Three-6 marathon lately. Didn't like their stuff a year ago when I checked it out but "World Domination" and "Most Known Unknown" are damn good albums!
|
I love Most Known Unknown at one point it was my title here on MB
Also When The Smoke Clears is good shit and Last 2 Walk also pretty cohesive When it comes to 3 6 thought I'm all over their fucking production. It's stands out so much. |
Same video two pages in a row. Solid work, DJ.
|
^lol
Anyway, what do you think about "Da Unbreakables" and "World Domination", DJ? |
