Been thinking about that lately. Here's what I came up with...

I guess with their latest album, no. If you look at the average "new" fan that has made them less underground, though, then I think they still are in a way: last.fm charts recently played is an absolute joke. It makes me believe their best work is still "underground"/under the radar. I mean, 'You' is the top fukin' track- I would rate that as the worst song on an average-to-above-average album, well outside my top 50 simply for Atmosphere drops alone. The top 15 is all 'When Life Gives You Lemons...' except for 2 tracks. IMO, they are simultaneously mainstream ('WLGYL...YPTSG') and underground (old stuff)- if that's possible.

I don't really know underground anymore like I used to. For a while I was on some stuff that the average person didn't know about, but now it seems like they've all graduated to mainstream status and are household names. I'll have to dig through this thread to catch back up.

It depends exactly what someone thinks Underground means. Unpopular, or, independent? Atmosphere is without a doubt no longer unpopular. They are not nearly as popular as most mainstream rappers, but they have videos popping up on MTVU, and I can walk down the street and talk to random people about the band, and 20% at least would at least have heard of them. However,t hey are still independent(To the best of my knowledge) and although they are becoming more and more popular, they are not exactly lil wayne.

That said, I will include them in my list.

Hieroglyphics
Jedi Mind Tricks
Does Jurassic Five count?

Edit- Forgot Cyne existed till I re read other pages. Easily my number one underground group. They are incredible.

I don't know about this one. My boy opened up for him the other day and honestly blew him out of the water. I do like him more on album, but he still has never really done it for me.
