In my opinion west coast is the best. Since tupac died it has died down but the west drops the most gansta sh$!t in the U.S. East coast rappers are too soft
Examples: Ja rule, nas, Jay-z, lloyd banks, 50 cent etc.

Im not familiar with any of the underground west coast scene, besides Richie Rich or Keak da Sneak, guys like that. All the mainstream stuff like Westside connect, x-2-the-z, yukmouth is good. But I still like east coast better. all the wu-tang guys, mos def, nasir- lyrically better than the west, my opinion.

nas in my opinion is the best east coast rapper right now. Lyrically he probably is the greatest of all time. The only thing that nas doesnt have is intimidation. He is a genius when working, but when he raps he sounds way too soft. The west coast pretty much is gone but the west in my opinion will always be the best.

^ true, but I can't imagine Nas having an intimidation factor in his music. That just isn't his style, and I don't think it would work for him. Well, except Ether. If I were Jay-Z and that song was released, I wouldn't leave the house.
