Do you think that Will Smith is a great rapper (which is above the mass) or just rapper like any other ?

i think personally that he's overrated. not any better than any other rapper.

It's my opinion too... personally I like him. But yes he is overrated. Maybe because he played in movies... dunno. But I really like Party Starter this song is awesome.

I wouldn't say he's overrated, people underrate him all the time cause these kids think oh he's just another actor tryna become a rapper. But no, Will Smith was one of the pioneers of hip hop, was a freestyle champ back in the day. Wasn't a PE type rapper, wasn't a KRS but he and Jazzy Jeff stood for fun, mostly unadulterated hip hop. Now he's lost some skill but is still one of the great ones, especially compared to rappers kids these days think are good.

i think he's talented, but kinda on the corney side. then again, he's always been a bit goofy really....it works for him and non the less i respect him. He's broken much ground in his time and has fun doing so.

I think he is a very talented man. He is not over rated; the Rap Community is over rated. Will Smith turned away from main stream rap and did it his way and it worked. No Guns, No Crime, No Cursing just good music with a catchy rime. All the rappers hate him for it but he still has everything they have and more. Fact is they are just jealous that he gets all the press that he does. They get plenty of press, to bad its usually in the form of a homicide news story. Oh and I want my OLD MTV back!

On our show we always wish happy birthdays. Rappers are congratulated for achieving/approaching middle age with out getting shot.

You just highlight a good point. He's on of the last old school rapper. No Guns, No Crime, No Cursing... Not a member of the ''gangsta'' gimmick if I can tell that. He got also a good appearence outside of the stage.

i dont know. maybe i feel the way i do because of the slight bias that i am not into all that much rap. but i just dont see anything especially great about him that other rap artists dont have. if anyone feels like showing me what im missing out on, feel free to send me some songs over aim.
