lyrically, musically. the raw emotion and social consciousness in rap music is what draws me to it. political rock/folk is eh. some of it is really good, but most of it is cheesy and overdone. political/socially conscious rap music is a match made in heaven. |

Hip Hop: Essentially cut and paste backing music, used in many musical styles besides rap.
Rap: Rhyming over beats. It's a little more complicated but that's the basic's. Hip hop has a whole sub-culture attached to it as well. |
