50 is doing the movie because it's just another way for him to make money. He doesn't HAVE to do the movie, but he wants to make money any way he can. and I agree witchu Jbal...50's music is poisoning peoples minds and it dont express what hip-hop is really about.

But I think what he is doing to hip hop is sad. its become generalized and something that is just not something that you HAVE to and want to listen to. I just feel like he is way too overrated and is not original. I dont really know if i even like to call him hip hop. not apart of what i think real hip hop is...

think about it, its kind of hard to say any particular artist sucks nowadays.

Cuz, someone puts out a certain style of music or raps about a certain thing. Next thing you know, everyone is copying them so that all you hear is that same old beat or same old lyrics. People begin to embrace it because it's all they hear, and there is nothing to compare it to. So they cant say whether or not it's good.

i totally agree. I just get so frustrated now with music because its not even about a good album anymore its about getting those four or five singles to get themselves paid and the rest is garbage. I guess i just miss a complete album. Kanye's 2nd was good.

I would only say that most popular rap is like that. But there are good lyricists out there that touch on more important subject matter rather than shortys dancing all seductive on whomever. But they are underrated and definitly need to be put into the spot light a bit more.

I would just like to point out I'd rather listen to 50 any day over some of the true crap coming out of the south.

The reason why this board was started was to discuss with "Real Hip Hop Lovers" the state that 50 has put hip hop in - which is a troubling one. Its not that we are ignorant, its more of that we KNOW that there are more talented, creative, and just plain better mc's out there and we know how to appreciate that. I would say thats its more ignorant to not fully understand what this page is really about before trying to sell us about a movie that is probably going to go straight to video in the next two weeks.
