I don't think you've listened to them very much then.

Dessa isn't terrible, she's just dull. She gets over hyped because of her gender and who she is associated with. Her music is decrepit and lacks novelty or force.

I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up as an "artist to watch" on vh1 or something pretty soon.

Have I listened to all of them? No. But Atmosphere, Felt, Brother Ali, and Greyskul are all quality.

I can understand why you might not like her, but as someone who listens to **** like Alanis Morissette and Natalie Imbruglia along with rap I find her music to be amazing. I'm sick of gangsta rap and all the cliches associated with it. It's been twenty years for god's sake, think of something new.

So because I'm sick of tired gangsta rap cliches, I'm a cliche underground junkie? Sounds like someone's a cliche underground junkie hater.

lol no, i've been through that stage you're currently in

so what, you just found some rappers that don't "rap about guns, drugs and bitches," and you think they're dope because of that? please son, you're on some entry level shit, you don't even know how many cats are exactly like you, saying they're "tired of gangsta rap cliches"

get your underground hip hop knowledge up, from 80's until now, and you'll see there's ALWAYS been LOTS of alternatives to gangsta rap... especially in today's underground

look, the cliche in mainstream = rapping about guns, drugs, being hard, and bitches

the cliche in underground = rapping about being a "normal guy," or rapping about how you don't have to rap about generic mainstream topics... it becomes a cliche in itself

J-Live, the Pharcyde, Digable Planets, Artifacts, Black Sheep, De La Soul, the Coup, Chuuwee, Blu, One Be Lo, Freestyle Fellowship (especially Aceyalone), Kool Keith/Dr. Octagon/The Cenobites/Ultramagnetic MC's, Company Flow, Edan, Del, Gang Starr, InI, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Cella Dwellaz, J. Rawls, DJ Honda, Moka Only, Rasheed Chappell, Insight, Damu the Fudgemunk, Juggaknots, Masta Ace, Louis Logic, Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics, Del, KRS-1

that's just a small list of dope artists through the years that have given you alternatives to what you're complaining about

Atmosphere's dope, Brother Ali's ok, Felt is kinda boring, I don't give a fuck about Greyskul, and matious is right, Dessa gets dull. she's good to keep around for about two tracks.

^Dude, I know all of that. Gangsta rap bores the **** out of me these days. Why do you assume that I'm some elitist who only cares about the underground? I hate those *******s too. The whole concept of the underground is supposed to be about creativity and not being bound by the mainstream industry, but it just becomes it's own industry that becomes a parody of itself. I am not some trve kvlt moron. I am just bored by gangsta rap.
