relapse was pretty wack. He's still talking about his mom, which has been beaten to death and just sounds painfully forced. He also writes some of the most unpleasent and irritating choruses of any rapper.
I like eminem when he's featured, he writes some pretty sick verses, but his own songs just don't click for me. |

There's no point on arguing good and bad rap when someone thinks it's all about commercial success. Also, if you want to talk about commercialism, the MMLP and SSLP are regarded by most critics as the greatest albums slim ever created. Have you even heard infinite? I'm sick of this ignorance.

anyone who uses that as a guide to which artists are good and which are bad is beyond thick headed.

I agree that Eminem's still not one of the worst. Even though I thought Encore was pretty terrible, you have to admit that Relapse was a step up, although not as good as his older albums.

if you think this... "I murder a rhyme one word at a time You never, heard of a mind as perverted as mine You better, get rid of that nine, it ain't gonna help What good's it gonna do against a man that strangles himself?" and this... "I feel like I'm walking a tight rope, without a circus net I'm popping perkasets, I'm a nervous wreck I deserve respect; but I work a sweat for this worthless check Bout to burst this tech, at somebody to reverse this debt Minimum wage got my adrenaline caged Full of venom and rage Especially when I'm engaged And my daughter's down to her last diaper That's got my ass hyper I pray that god answers, maybe I'll ask nicer" is comparable to... this... "Locked in Mariah's wine cellar all I had for lunch, Was red wine, more red wine, and captain crunch, Red wine for breakfast and for brunch, And to soak it up and in between snack, crackers to munch, Mariah, what's ever happened to us, why did we have to break up, All I asked for was a glass of punch, You see, I never really ask for much, I can't imagine what's going through your mind after such, A nasty breakup with that Laftin Hunkler, Weisman Gale, Nick Cannon better back the **** up," and this... "All my west side bitches throw it up Put a balloon inside your pussy... queef and blow it up Man I think that he just fell off the teeth and showing up So you better change the station To keep from throwing up Man you seen it all before your all too familiar with it There's a penis on the floor and two balls so you know who did it You know you with it girl don't front, oh no you didn't I won right by the pussy cat dolls when call you kitten I'll pee on rihanna see man I do what I wanna Spray perfume in the sauna room crazy glue in Madonna to The lazy boy so called fold her in two and sit on her Imagine if visual for that man Who would've thoughta Could ever be such a relentless prick And leashin his fingers For the chicks who waltz She looks like she outlived her life sentence I never meant this, rhyme to be so offensive If you werent so defensive it wouldn't be Your so sensitive Then lyricism is something either you don't understand or choose to ignore. The difference between eminem up until 2002 and eminem today is like the difference between Big L and 50 cent or Big pun and chamillionaire. Yes, relapse was a step up from encore but that doesn't make it good. If the sh!t i took this morning looks nicer than the sh!t i took last night it doesn't make this mornings sh!t a work of ****in art.

Relapse was basically light hearted and fun. So you can't compare the two albums side by side.
The beats were solid, and Em made me laugh throughout most of it (laying down to two lesbian vegetables, I bet you they become heterosexual was a killer line. Also the one about masturbating to Hannah Montana killed me). His flow is still crazy good. He's one of the best at forcing stuff to fit his rhyme scheme without making it seem forced. Eminem isn't the greatest rapper alive, but he is a damn good one, and his name probably shouldn't come up when talking about the worst of the worst ever. |
