my social distortion/punk rant

so i saw social distorsion and my preconceptions about punk are back again, i don't know why but when i hear that some band is punk i expect really badass angry music and every time i actually hear a punk band i wonder what the fuck is this...i know they're supposed to be punk legends and they've been arround for a while ( which may explain the lack of agression ) but their music is really far from what i expected, sure the drums are a bit faster then usual but his vocals are just not .....well agressive enough. i think that my preconceptions about punk mostly come from the way punks look , they have an agressive look and that's why i always expect something much more harder then punk ( as i figure it ) really is....and this is what bugs me, when people start dissing bands like good charlotte and green day for being pop-rock, well i would say that punk as a genre is actually pop-rock. and my personal opinion is that the classical form of punk ( a.k.a. the ramones, the clash, green day, social distorsion ) is really outdated, of todays forms of punk the closest thing that comes to my vision of punk would actually be emo ( as in my chemical romance , yes, laugh if you will, but i think it's true ), really fast music and agressive vocals......
oh and i found it really funny the way the punk kids were throwing themselves arround like it was ATDI that played, and not social distorsion....

hey adidasss, ya, SD are not an agressive punk band. More of a punk/rockabilly type band, with an old americana country/rock influence. Check out the movie "Another State Of Mind" and youll get a pretty good idea of why they are still considered by alot of people as "legends" as you put it.

I dont think anyo f this is new to any of us. No social distortion isnt going to jump off the stage and rip your throat out ,but there a very good band nn the less.

MCR much better then Social D thats rather laughable, it is your opinion though. Social D is exactly as you described. They started out as one of the bands that paved the way in punk rock of the early 80s, but have turned into a top 40 act over the years. Radio friendly ala Bad Religion which is another band that has lost touch with its beginning. Mike Ness has gotta eat i suppose.

well the fact that it's obviously a dead conversation hosted by people who likely have altered their personal convictions greatly over the course of five years might lead some to believe that bumping it is sort of a silly idea.

Yeah, I also LMAO'd at ancient thread.

I did find the MCR comment funnier than the emo one though
