That's an unbelievably good observation. Personally, I only own Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables, all their mid-to-late 80s releases really have no appeal to me.

Default The Official Dead Kennedys/Jello Biafra Thread

I was just downloading some mp3's and I came across a collection of Jello. I had a really good laugh at some things, like "your children could end up like Charles Manson with too much exposure to the Smurfs" and "Barney the Dinosaur has been accused of supporting homosexuality, now I know why the dinosaurs died off"
But in one instance, he mentioned that we need to grow more pot...for reasons such as, with one acre of pot, as opposed to an acre of trees, we will have more paper, and then grow another crop months later...even the american flag and Levis was once made with hemp...lol, and yet we have it made illegal? I just had to make a thread for anyone who has never listened to "outspoken words" they should give it a spin....

Hah, yeah Jello is a great speaker. "Ban Everything" is my favorite of all his speeches, it's so funny.

As a side note to your comment, hemp and marijuana are from the same plant species, but most often are not the same substance. industrial hemp, used to make fibers, clothes, paper, and a clean-burning fuel, have low THC content and is virtually unusable in the recreational sense. Hemp- meaning the roots, stalk, stems, etc- are actually legal to possess. Of course you cant technically grow hemp without producing the marijuana buds, but there is a DEA loophole that does allow certain companies to grow legal hemp, without the buds. I know, that was a totally unnecessary rant.
anyway back to subject, i never really cared much about jello's spoken word/extremism propaganda. To believe he actually ran for mayor several years ago in SanFran and was a Green party candidate in 2000. ..

I am a pot advocate, so yes I do know the process, and the growing habits of hemp and pot. I know you can't get high off hemp, and I do know about the loopholes. I did a project on it for gr 12 english hahahah . But, you don't like Jello, fine by me, I never knew he ran for mayor though...that is pretty funny...

I never said I didnt like Jello, musically I like alot about him. The first couple DK albums, all the other projects like NO WTO combo, LARD, jello & the Melvins, jello/DOA, even the country stylings of jello & mojo nixon. I just don't necessary care about his "politics."

Jellos "grow more pot" spoken word is great, Im all for the re-legalization of marijuana and have read quite a few books the subject. Some of the stuff listed already here is just the tip of the iceberg. I own a copy of The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer and have read it several times from cover to cover..tons of information on everything from how it can be used as a fuel to why it became illegal in the first place, and how it can reverse the effects of global warming. I definetly recommend picking it up. www.jackherer.com
