BUMP

Much love for these guys they are the awesome-ness with surf guitar

sleepy jack 04-24-2006 08:40 PM

Dead Kennedys pwnz, overrated but awesome. MTV Get Off The Air, Soup Is Good Food, Insight, Stealing Peoples Mail. I could go on for awhile, awesome band.

White Lies 04-25-2006 04:02 AM

Love love love them. East Bay Ray is the man, so many great guitar riffs. Jello is a hero of mine despite his problems with the rest of the band. His work with the Melvins, Nomeansno, DOA and Mojo Nixon is all great too. Beats that Jeff Penalty *** anytime.

Man with the Dogs is my favorite DKs song.

GI germs 04-25-2006 07:08 AM

DK is awesome. one of my very favorite bands.

Ghostbuster3000 04-28-2006 05:19 AM

They was a great band, basically launched the punk hardcore scene single handedly. Shame they split up, i know jello biafra is a great musical and political figure but he kind of deserved what he got in the courts. Just cos youre the lead singer of the band doesnt mean you have to take all the money........ great band though

White Lies 10-06-2006 06:59 AM

Has anyone heard Jumbo Shrimp? It's a post DK project involving Ray, Klaus and a couple of other guys. They play covers of surf instrumentals. Pretty cool.

Bubbles Playground 04-15-2008 10:55 AM

Holiday in Cambodia is one of the best songs ever.

debaserr 09-22-2008 11:00 PM

i just have fresh fruit and i like it a lot. where should i go from here?

WaspStar 09-23-2008 05:58 AM

Personally, I don't think anything they did after Fresh Fruit was all that great...but the first album is amazing.

The In God We Trust Inc E.P. is a real belter.

cardboard adolescent 09-23-2008 09:05 PM

I think Plastic Surgery Disasters and Frankenchrist are both classics as well, and Bedtime for Democracy has got some pretty decent tunes though not as consistent overall.

sweet_nothing 09-23-2008 09:13 PM

Plastic Surgery Disasters is my fav album, I honestly never really liked In God We Trust Inc.

Sloth 09-24-2008 11:01 AM

Plastic Surgery Disasters is my favorite as well. I'd recomend them all except for Bedtime for Democracy which is still somewhat good.

Surell 09-24-2008 07:04 PM

SATCHMO 03-26-2009 10:39 PM

A couple of Lard's songs are fantastic but the majority of their songs don't really do it for me. And that "I Am Your Clock" song or whatever it's called is just flat out awful.

SATCHMO 03-26-2009 10:52 PM

Jello's 90's collaboration w/ Ministry's Al Jourgenson

Indeed, I am a fan of the the DK. It's raw and unseen anymore.

Should I make fun of you or not for posting this after two posts talking about Lard? :D

Edit: Wait a second, one of those posts was yours!

Ugh. I just can't listen to this in one sitting. It's entertaining, but he's just like all those other people that takes all of the validity out of their own, as well as like-minded people's diatribes. Over the top nasal conspiracy theories if you ask me.
Good for a sound bite, but that's about it.

I love DK though.

SATCHMO 03-27-2009 02:06 AM

^^^^^^^^^^^To quote a bumper sticker: "If you're not outraged, then you're not paying attention."

Bane of your existence 03-27-2009 02:14 AM

No no no, I get that.
And I get a lot of what he says. But he goes at it sort of Michael Mooreesque. Making even people who agree with him nauseous. When the truths are twisted/blown up/and brought out of context to such a point that even solid truths are stretched so thin an idiot could see through them, it takes away from the real fight.

I don't see why he needs to reach so damn much while on such a high horse.

SATCHMO 03-27-2009 03:01 AM

Yeah, the typical conspiracy paranoia vibe. I feel that. It definitely gets annoying, but I hate to say so often such as in this case its often true, plus understand that Jello had a few lectures under his belt before Moore even got started. And despite moore's M.O. of exposing the truth I believe everything he's trying to put across. The media would really prefer that you see him as a fat unreliable scoundrel who goes to manipulative extremes to put forth the message he wants you to see. The american gov't has been doing the same thing since its inception.

You're right. I feel like those who taint some of the hidden truth most people aren't exposed to with the conspiracy theory vibe, you automatically lose a majority of your audience. ****, I can't even talk to people about Zeitgeist around here without getting past "It talks about how 9/11 could have been an inside job." As soon as someone hears that the documentary I'm recommending spends 50 minutes explaining and presenting facts on this subject, I'm completely rejected. I like a more subtle approach - like Zeitgeist Addendum. Powerful, positive but to the point.
