Zeitgeist presented me with the same problem too. People tend to think of you as a paranoid schizo, because youre espousing ideas that drastically conflict w/ their reality. I found myself doing the same thing when I watched the Obama Deception the other night. You think its hard getting a receptive audience for Zeitgeist? Well, if you havent already seen The Obama Deception you should and then wait for people to accuse you of being a right-wing neo-con. republican when you try to talk about it.
I find That just like the body the mind has its own sort of homeostasis where people's paradigm's of reality can't be radically alterred all at once, and just as the body will reject a new organ If not given adequate conditions to acclimate to it, The mind will reject new ideas if it's too much of a radical departure, or if it clashes with their own ideology. Start with the most plausible least threatening concept and work outward from there.

Yeah, its another one of those fucked-up tales about a band with great intent and drive that eventually got wrecked in the politics of the music industry. Basically, the entire band took the opportunity to franchise the name except for Jello Biafra. The other members basically locked him out of the decision making after they broke up and now we have "Holiday in Cambodia" on Guitar Hero, YAY!!:banghead:
While Jello wasn't the greatest frontman/singer of all time, I guess it ended up being him who had the most honest integrity out of the other members.

Indeed, I have definitely learned how to do that. Being the nerd that I am, I really enjoy your organ/idea metaphor. It fits together nicely. Yeah, I have't see The Obama Deception, but have already been accused of being racist for not buying into his ****. But this topic should be for another thread. ;)

I've always put Bedtime for Democracy as my favorite DK album, but Frankenchrist is giving it a run for its money.

The In God We Trust EP was my first DK album. Still probably my favorite. I really liked all of their albums except Plastic Surgery Disasters, for some reason that one didn't click with me.

I agree with In God We Trust Inc. being the best. When I was dumb, I bought it in on vinyl and I got some ****ty repress, but I still love it. Even when Jello didn't write the lyrics and they turned out really juvenile (Religious Vomit), they still had the intensity and anger that made you want to join in.

Some of Jello's spoken word stuff is tight, too, when he isn't getting too much rambling into it.

Lard have some good stuff, wouldn't mind hearing his albums with NoMeansNo either.
Have a tremendous amount of respect for his work with Alternative Tentacles, great label



edit: it wasn't until like 8 years after i got the Offspring's 'Ixnay on the Hombre' that i realised it's Biafra in the 'disclaimer' at the beginning, yay

I heard Jello Biafra and The Guantanamo School of Medicine a little while ago. Pretty good stuff. I also dug the albums he did with The Melvins as well. But as far as punk rockers go, you can't beat the energy they had when they were young.
