Do chick Punk singers suck?
 

im not trying to be sexist, or make enemies, but does anybody else agree with me when i say that chicks cant sing punk?

Well Avril Lavigne can't, but I think Gwen Stefani totally can.

Gwen Stefani = not punk more like ska with pop parts.

I don't like chick singers at all except the Horrorpops and Nightwish. Only two I can stand

Gwen Stefani has a wicked voice, and i disagree with you. The are loads of great female punk singers out there. What about these then?

Its all opinion. I can't stand the distillers nor do I like the slits, never heard of the rest ,but its all about what your taste are and I am not a big fan of chick singers

Punk isn't about what sex you are,its about raw sounds,attitude and what you have to say.Females are just as capable as males,i think it's just that more males get the breaks in the male dominated music industry.

Tailspin has a rather good female singer - but there again I would say that (video / mp3's available on site).

BUT - in general I think ladies are just as good, providing they spit in a proper manner.

It Depends Really On The Singer Avril Lavgene sucks but the others maight be cool!

Some of you should listen to some of the old Riot Girl stuff from the Seattle/Washington area in the Mid-ninties. To anyone who doesn't know Riot Girl isnt a band but almost a hardcore punk subgenre or "scene" that was all based on feminism and empowerment. Some of it is really original and inspiring. Some good female punk singers come from bands like:

Stella Mars
Erase Errata
Sleater Kinney
Pretty Girls Make Graves (If you want to consider them punk more than Indie)

****less, L7, Babes in Toyland, Hole. They were cool. The problem is that there doesn't seem to have been a steady stream of great bands taking over from them.

It all just depends on the singer. If the female singer is good, she will make it, and if she isn't, she probably won't. I do think that guys have an easier time making it in the industry, but it all is just circumstances.

as im a female nd in a punk indie band! i can honestly admitt i find it very hard to sing punk songs as well as male punk bands!!! but once i got em! they sound really unique!!! u dont need a vocal talent to be able to sing punk! infact most males spk !!! as us women make the songs sound unique! i mean look at brody i mean she is fukin ace!!!! :hphones: betcha u men culdnt sing like her! nd courtney love kicks ass!!!!!! her voice is fukin amazin ........... its really rough nd she can definatly shout!!!!! nd u cant still tell shes a women!!!! u dont need 2 av a perfect voice to sing punk! i mean look at celin dion shes got near enuff a perfect voice according to most ppl! but if she sung london calling it wuldnt sound rite!!! her voice wuld be tooo good for the song! ur ment to av a " i aint perfect" " i dont care watcha think " BADASS type pf voice!!! so stop dissin us fukin women!!!!

The Arch Enemy chick sounds so much like a guy, same with Kittie.

In Hardcore 'Walls Of Jerico' have a chick singer...thats all I can think of right now...but its late and I have a Cross Country meet in the morning so I'm out.

I have not yet found a hard punk rocker chick that sings well yet... but singing's probably the least important part of punk. The actual music and the words are what make punk, like you must admit the guy from rancid doesn't have the nicest voice but their music is soo kick ass it doesn't matter.so it's maybe not so much they suck at singing... maybe it's that they can't play or write?

well.. a lot of them can actually sing but they choose to sing a different way to suit the kinda of music (thats how I see it). I like the Distillers and I think Brody is pretty cool. The way she sings is original imo.
About the Rancid singer, I find he has a cool voice :P
But I gotta agree, its about the music and the lyrics. Without good guitar parts (and drums) and "cool" lyrics, its boring

there are some awsome "chick" singers out there. i suggest you look deeper into the "movement". by the way, im going to "use" these "inverted commas" to a ridiculous extent. as you can see

Another band with a chick singer thats is so hot looking (at least in the pictures I've seen) and still rocks out is Bloodlined Calligraphy's new frontwoman. Amazing. She looks like she'd be a cheerleader and her growl is unbelievable.

Depends if they can actually sing, most females cant sing a note in tune in the music industry wheres theres people like me who ( Im not trying to be conceited) have some talent. So no, girls cant sing punk, because the ones you hear in the public eye suck.
Oh and have you read the post replied to your email that says that HILARY DUFF is a punk chick. I think they need a reality check.
