i like tsunami bomb, but i don't think of them as punk. i do really like the amazombies...but they are the only chick group that i even think of as punk (that i know of)

^ tsunami bomb is pop/punk, agent m (their lead) reminds me gwen stefani's voice. but oh well, it doesnt matter, cause alot of the bands mentioned in this forum are poppunk. :)

Well I was gonna start a thread about female fronted punk bands, but I might as well bring back this one. BTW, no, "chick punk singers" do not suck. You can wet yourselfs over your avrils and brody's all you want. But there are plenty of goodies to talk about. Joan Jett, who's basically been everywhere. The Slits, classic sh*t. Bikini Kill, the pioneer riot grrls. The Devotchkas, even Vice Squad has their moments. Right now, I really like Hang on the box, thats the Beijing group (I posted the cute little lead singers pics in the punk pictures thread). Her voice has got a little bit of riot grrl and a little bit of johnny rotten thing going on.

WHY DID YOU BRING THIS BACK!? WHY!? We even already have a thread like..'yummy punk rock girls' or something where we could talk about this!

I've been listening to alot of sofa head and Karma sutra recently an they both have awsome female singers. What pisses me off is the fact that lots of people dont even care how the band sounds as ong as the lead singer is hot. I've heard the same thing on this board a thousand times. OMG OMG Amy miret is soooo hot! Did you know that she sings too? Ra it bothers me

Id have to kick myself if i didnt mention fellow Arizonians Contravene, and their singer Shelly...this band kicks so much ass, probably the most known punks from here.
(jimmy eat world doesnt count!!, ive played with those guys years ago several times, nothing against them personally but they reminded me of REM or some other college bands back then)

Both the vocalists have great voices and great lyrics (*cough cough, my signature, verse from Clutches). Honestly I'm excited there's people who know Nausea is to begin with; in the real world, I only know one person who knows who they are, so I'm just glad to be discussing them period. I hope everyone is familiar with the music, because if you are, there's no denying how great they are, regardless of amy miret.

I would say that Gwen Stefani can definately sing, however, she is more ska music than anything...I don't think Avril is bad, but she is nothing special, even though she once reffered to herself as the modern Sid Vicious, she is such an *******. But one chick that I really really like and has an awsome punk voice is the chick from the distillers....

Yeah, Brody Dallas.. I always think she has a really unique voice, but there are people who hear Brody's voice really similar to Courtney Love's... Ah well, Brodys got a great voice anyways

I have no idea. Even if she was a punk singer, she's definetly not a good one. If you ever have the bad luck of hearing her live, then I feel sorry for you. I really do...

im sorry but when brody dalle sings i always mistake her for a guy. and she sounds so much like courtney love its untrue. i dont rate her.

cmon you have to at least give bikini kill and the raincoats some credit.

The Raincoats are one of the worst bands i`ve ever heard.

I just saw Rise Against at Soma, and Tsunami Bomb opened, I wouldn't say they were my style, but it was really cool to see her sing, that girl has a voice.

But you cant argue bikini kill?

I like B Kill and The Raincoats, both alot better than some of the crap artists mentioned in this thread.

What do you guys think about bands that have females as there lead singers. I dont have a problem with it. Bands like X and the Horrorpops and really good.
