I think Heather Fortune from Wax Idols and some other bands does pretty well.

Got a chance to see Hether Fortune playing bass for White Lung back in December, she was quite hypnotizing, I may have fallen in love for a few minutes. She didn't seem to have a whole lot of energy but the way she just kind of leaned back, did her thing, and watched while the rest of the band and the whole venue went completely rabid was entertaining in its own way.

Way back when there was a Punk Band with female vocalist called Jen Screams. Can't remember what the band was called. After they broke up she fronted another Punk Band called Black Diamond. However, I can't find her or those bands in Google searches. There's another band called Black Diamond now. It's not the band Jen was part of though, or at least I don't think so.

29 pages - i can't remember if i replied - i doubt anyone really will read it so for history - in a male dominated world female rock artists go through an identity crises similar to homosexuals, which is to point out that they may be much more self aware than their male counterparts. maybe men don't care for that self awareness, however some will, and they may enjoy the autobiograpphies of viv albertine, lydia lunch, kim gordon and others - yet other men hate on women and it's a theme that follows from birth when the boy craps his diapers and as soon as he can stop crapping and having mom berate him again and again, some boys tire from babyhood of female criticism, again it goes back to the diapers

however, if you can get over being a baby then there are especially now in 2015 a plethora of super artists who are women who (if you like girls) can sugar up your eardrums.

i am not going to respond to pop singer names, we can start with alicia velasquez or alice bag - the very first los angeles harcore punk band. at the same time lorna doom was playing bass for the germs. later kira rosseler was playing bass for black flag.

if that wasn't enough punk already then let's begin the topic again with shannon wilhelm and mary sims of castration squad - yes they didn't make it big nor even an lp but they had a whole lurid pregoth style which was the very tailbone of goth

on the right coast while new wave had debby harry and patty smith, there was the more underground no wave scene which grew to include french singer lizzy mercier descloux, and the french mo-dettes, did i say lydia lunch or kim gordon of sonic youth, did i say stinky toys?

i have not touched riot grrls and kathleen hanna or sleater kinney

meanwhile penelope houston of the avengers was in san fran, and siouxsie sioux needs no intro - i saw the slits when i was a kid and they were pretty crazy - you may not think them punk but if you read viv albertines books it's pretty over the top (as she was ;))

i mean you can say what you want but x for the west coast was a formative punk band - they were the first band released on slash records - the next was the germs - and exene has a gorgeous voice - it's hard to imagine an all male x with mere basic tenor john doe doing all the singing

some will deny courtney love a place in the spotlight - i would say that makes her the more punkish - some will say the pixies weren't punk but indie - a null argument when it's all really just rock and roll - sometimes my ears crave the deal sisters from the breeders

i am not done with the subject but i am done for now - when most people don't read but just reply, even as i have done.... tough

forgot eve libertine of crass, white lung, ah my brain is fried

I believe the Mo-dettes were all from England, except for Swiss vocalist Ramona Calier, aka Regula Sing (her name when she was with Kleenex). I'm no music historian, though, so I may be wrong.

I dunno. I have never been a fan of female fronted punk bands.
