Cbgb
I am not shure if anyone here is down with the lower Manhattan punk scene. Lower Manhattan has many rad clubs. Expecialy clubs like CBGB, The Bowery Ballroom, ABC No Rio, ext. Last week at CBGB Against Me!, The Exit, and World Inferno Friendship Society were supposed to play a benifit show. As you might know CBGB is in danger of closing because of money issues. A group of kids and I were going to see the show and we were really hyped about it.
A week before the show, my friend and I go to CBGB and ask the guy at the front if we could buy tickets for the Against Me! show. He tells me they are 10 dollers at the door and the doors are open at 7. (Witch is totally cool) The day of the show we stand outside CBGB for 6 hours waiting to get a good spot. It comes to be 7 o`clock and some lady comes out and says if you dont have an i.d. to go home. I have my i.d. so im not worried. There were about 300 kids waiting outside and around the block. 30 minutes pass and a guy comes out and says if you dont have a ticket go home. I have no idea what he is talking about so we stand there until the cops come. About 50 people decide to go into the gallery right next door but they kicked us out of that too. My point is I refuse to give any money to CBGB. They want people to donate money to them but they show no love to the fans. What do you guys think about this situation? |

I found out that they sold tickets online 3 hours before the show started and they only sold about 100 tickets. The rest of the tickets were taken because Against Me! filled the guest list. (this is what i heard) Thats f`ucked up because all those kids didn't have a ticket. They told me that tickets would be sold only at the door.
dont support them. SUPPORT ABC NO RIO!! |

Yea, um this kind of thing happens at small clubs. Thats why you pre order. The same thing happens all over when big bands play small clubs. It happened the last time against me played the cities too.

CBGB is not a small club. I did not think to pre-order because the guy at the front door told me it was 10 dollers at the door. I have been to a thousand shows where you pay at the door. I would pre-ordered if i knew i was supposed to.

the fact that CBGB is a non profit orgainization and they are goin out of buisness sickens me.
and to the **** that said that they dont show any love to their fans is ridiculous. so stop whining that you lost 10 dollars and go back to painting your nails. |

If they are a non-profit organization then how come they sell t-shirts for 30 dollers? Why do they sell tickets for an average price of 20 dollers? Other clubs like ABC No Rio, they are in debt also, charge 6 dollers to see a matinie on saturdays. And even if they do close the NY club it will go somewhere else. And they get 30 million dollers a year ( i could be wrong, could be less but not by that mutch) from the mayor. They get that money because they run a homeless program (witch is probably the coolest thing they do.) So why are they going out of buisness???
