in the context of the mid 70s the 1st Ramones lp literally saved rockNroll @ a time when it was on life support. Now leave home ESPECIALLY Rocket to russia were THE Epitome of rockNroll back on track, also was Pleasant dreams a few years later. The Ramones defined punk, & "pop punk" as does brilliant groups like the Queers, Sonic Surf City, the Travoltas etc

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Not necessarily the bands that come to mind when talking about Pop Punk. California Sun is one of the best "pop songs that got a Punk makeover." imho William Mysterious seriously lays down some of the best Punk bass playing ever on that album (CStR).

The Dictators - Go Girl Crazy!
The Rezillos - Can't Stand the Rezillos

The Dictators - California Sun

The Rezillos - Flying Saucer Attack

My favourite would be My Chemical Romance - Three cheers...every song could be a single.

I don't know, I'm bad with genres, all I know is it's fast and catchy rock music (in my mind=pop punk). Maybe it can be both emo and pop punk?
