Maybe it's just me, but Mike Ness' voice is fairly distinctive.

They've been doing their thing for many years, have been consistent, and still are rocking. I really don't care if they progressed musically or not. They've been sticking with the sound they're good at, and have produced several good albums.
If you're looking for progression, check out Mike Ness' solo stuff. You just might appreciate the country influence that lurks behind every social d song.
