Ramones "Ramones".

tdoc210 08-17-2005 04:29 PM

aahgh mommies little monster

Fenixpunk 08-19-2005 03:05 PM

out of those, id have to go with No Control..

Mommies little monster, ramones, and milo go to college are all really good too, but something about that Bad Religion album makes my skin crawl everytime i hear it. It reminds me of when i was about 16 driving down the california coast. (i had 3 tapes in my car for the weekend; No Control, Walk Among Us, and Exploited Singles Collection)

tdoc210 08-19-2005 07:41 PM

i like the ramones , but they arent at all in my top ten bands

FunkyFish 08-24-2005 12:06 PM

I'd say for definite Social D's Mommy's Little Monster

i have to agree with that.

SATCHMO 08-24-2005 12:49 PM

I think Milo Goes to College is a good album, but Liveage is my favorite Descendants album. None of their studio stuff holds up to that album.

Mag 7 08-25-2005 05:28 AM

You really, really, really need the Undertones' first album on this list.

aven 09-06-2005 09:31 PM

the descendents are awesome.anyone hear that song coffee mug?it's great.the whole song is like 49 seconds long.

FunkyFish 09-08-2005 10:37 AM

I think a good pop rock song is Bad Religions 21st century digital boy

MURDER JUNKIE 09-09-2005 01:29 AM

definately Ramones-Ramones had the biggest impact however Milo Goes To College kicked my ass and was the turning point for punk for me. So many great tracks in like 22 minutes

deadkennedysmeetstheclash 09-09-2005 12:08 PM

I'd say Ramones- Ramones, you;ve got to remember basically every punk band to come after them were infleunced in some way by them, Sid Vicious for instance modelled himself on the ramones..

If the question was best here's the list:
________________________________
Singles Going Steady: legendary. the best pop punk to ever see the light of day.
Key Tracks:I Don't Mind, Harmony in My Head
No Control: somehow they found a way to take the stereotypical 3 chord songs and make me say "awwwwwwwe"
Key Tracks:Automatic Man, Sanity
Milo Goes To College: the only thing that sound like this that I will listen to. I miss Milo, screw ALL.
Key Tracks:Statue of Liberty, Hope (NOT BY SUBLIME!!!!!!!THEY DIDNT WRITE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!)
New Day Rising: Husker Du is what got me into music, maybe not this album but it's undeniably classic.
Key Tracks:Celebrated Summer,Books About UFOs
Mommy's Little Monster: NOT REALLY INTO but that doesn't mean it isn't great.
Key Tracks:Mommy's Little Monster, Telling Them
Let It Be: NOT REALLY INTO but that doesn't mean it isn't great.
Key Tracks: I Will Dare, Androgynous
Shrinking Dic*kies: NOT REALLY INTO but that doesn't mean it isn't great.
Key Tracks:Curb Job,She(Monkies cover)
Ramones: I HATE THE RAMONES! We all have hugely influencial bands we don't like. You may hate Black Flag. That's Ok for you

I'd hate to be the band that had to own up to influencing Pop-Punk.

Don't be a jerk, Pop-punk isn't what you see on TV, Greenday and all that **** is not Pop-punk.

There is a fine line between how the mainstream media defines Pop-punk and how people who know their music define it.
Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way but, in my mind some real Pop-punk nowadays would be The Briefs, The Queers, The Star Spangles, etc;

So who ever did start Pop-punk, I thank you for some bands.

Listen to early Green Day and tell me they're not Pop-Punk.

There are some great Pop-Punk bands (I'm a big fan of The Descendants), but you can't discount the fact that all those MTV bands are Pop-Punk just because you don't like them.

They arent pop punk.

Fenixpunk 09-27-2005 04:01 PM

one of my favorite pop punk albums would have to be Supernova - ages 3 and up..

one of the poppiest albums ive heard, pushing the boundaries of poppyness, almost too poppy sometimes, but that whole album is so fun, makes you wanna pogo till you pass out.

Really? Because I can't see why a band who writes punk-influenced, catchy, three-chord pop songs wouldn't be considered pop-punk.

Metallica is punk influenced. I play in a nu metal band that uses 3 chords.

and busted are catchy.

are they punk?

and another thing have you listened to new green day?

and have you listened to the ramones?

compare the two.

Listen to blink 182 then busted then the ramones and tell me which blink sounds the most like.

im not gonna go any further seeing as im sick of this arguement read the rules blink green day and all that are excepted here.

Well see, that's why it's Pop-Punk.

And you play in a Nu-Metal band, so I'm not sure how much I trust your judgment on anything music related.

Nu-Metal doesn't deserve to be called a genre. It's easily on the worst sub-genres to come about in recent times. I honestly don't think I can name one good band in the entire damn thing.

And Green Day are Pop-Punk, you just seem to dislike them due to the emphasis on the word pop.

I like tons of pop bands Mcfly,Busted,Backstreet boys etc...

New green day is purely modern rock.

McFly, Busted, Backstreet Boys?! Either you're joking, or you're digging your own grave there.

And I never said anything about new Green Day. I specifically said, "Listen to early Green Day..."

Not really.

You did catch my mistake though.

Which isnt really pwning just catching my mistake

good job on it.

Fenixpunk 09-27-2005 05:04 PM

green day is worst now than they were before. very few people here (if any) had the chance to see them for 5 bucks when they were playing with bands like blatz, filth, or any other punk band for that matter and just about got thrown off stage. so why care now?
