i mean i get where you're coming from but i think you're either basing that off of a small sample size or just outright wrong. there's definitely a lot of metal influence in the heavier stuff and i guess there's some pop punk elements in melodic hardcore but it's not all that often that i hear the two overlap. i can't think of many bands that i would call both pop punk and hardcore, at least not many that belong in this thread.
