Man, WD is gone. It might be like the old days.

Regardless I'm pretty sure he's drunk.

I'm debating starting a new journal on just pop punk and emo instead of the post-hardcore one I abandoned forever ago.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

yes do it

the reason i chose to do one like this is because it's so much easier for people to post and voice opinions than a journal that requires waiting on a mod's approval. + other people can post stuff too if they want.

but either way yes do it

Edit: Links were all ****ed up but I fixed it. Mostly.

Okay, I got a bunch of bands to list. When looking for more modern Hardcore I've noticed most tend to just sound extreme yet have these very unmemorable songs so I don't have too many in my library. Anywho, let's start.

I got two bands from my country the Netherlands for you guys.

First up is Vitamin X. Their earlier stuff is more Thrashcore:
Spoiler for Show:

While their latest stuff is slower and has a small bit of a crossover thing going on? Some rock/metal ish riffs throughout and vocals with a bit more metallic distortion.
It also featured a track with the vocalist from Negative Approach, which I'll post here:
Spoiler for Show:

-Next up is a more modern styled/different one with more growled vocals: This Routine Is Hell, which often has mid tempo songs with a riffing style more like when punk rock was transitioning to Hardcore, but darker and more dissonant sounding. the frustrated Lyrics are quite good too, even if rather depressing.
Spoiler for Show:

Nowadays they go by as Swain, which isn't really a hardcore band and has grungy vibes going on, but does have elements of punk.
Spoiler for Show:

As for non Dutch ones, I got:

-Ceremony

Early work is more thrashcore/powerviolence styled.
Spoiler for Show:

They then go on for a more classic hardcore sound,
Spoiler for Show:

only to end on..Post-Punk?

Spoiler for Show:

-Pears. Doesn't everyone know this one at this point? I love them, both poppy and aggressive as ****, but rarely take themselves too seriously and just have fun. Has both moments that sound like classic hardcore and moments that sound modern.
Spoiler for Show:

-Brutal Youth

This is a Melodic Hardcore band with poppy moments along the likes of Kid Dynamite and Pears. Not as consistent as those two bands, but my god this track slays:

-Astpai

This is technically not Hardcore band. It's more of a Melodic Punk band along the lines of the Flatliners. They do have tracks that defenitely tread into hardcore territory, and I've always loved that combination of Melodic pop punk and hardcore. I do find some of the screamed vocals a bit underwhelming, but they have a unique riffing style as far as Punk goes.

More of a Hardcore Track:

-Also, I'd like to note a lesser known melodic hardcore/Thrashcore band from the 80's still makes albums: Flag of Democracy.

Spoiler for Show:

Spoiler for Show:
is my favourite but I can't find the rest of the album anywhere. They've always played at insane speeds.

I also got three Japanese Hardcore bands of the Bright vareity as opposed to the usual dark ones they have, which all have unique sounds.

-Idol Punch. Incredibly goofy band with unique riffing. Sometimes threads into thrashcore/powerviolence territory.

Spoiler for Show:

Another song cause I love em so much:
Spoiler for Show:

They have darker songs too, but their standout things are tracks like those.

-Byousatsu Endorphin. A thrashcore band with some poppy/goofy songs and unique riffing. Closest you can get to Idol Punch as far as I know. Later stuff starts to have more mid tempo songs, however I sadly can't find those albums anywhere and you can't buy them digitally .

One of the Thrashcore tracks:

One of the goofier tracks:

One of the newest albums (very unique, don't know anything like it):
Spoiler for Show:

-Paintbox This one is a lot like that canadian band ''****ed Up'' with a bit of a ''progressive'' post-hardcore kinda sound to it. Their older tracks are generally darker and more typical hardcore with Hard Rock/Metallic riffs thrown throughout (A thing more common in Japanese Hardcore).
Spoiler for Show:

Older track:
Spoiler for Show:

That's all I could think of for now. I mean, I could also think of Turnstile but...., come on, it's ****ing Turnstile :')

ceremony rule. i dig their post-punk stuff more than the power violence/hardcore sound but Rohnert Park LP is damn near perfect.

I agree, Rohnert Park is one of the best hardcore albums to have come out lately. Sure we've had a lot of bands with great songs, but rarely do they just have an entire album that just works super well as a whole.

Also I added PEARS to the list, I excluded them at first cause they're the most popular hardcore band currently but I may as well add them. ****ed Up is not on there because I never really gave them a good listen yet.
