Johnny’s personality is the most important non-musical factor that separates The Ramones from all other punk bands. His attention to detail, monomaniacal focus, and the projection of the image on top of an insane worth ethic... The Ramones had the perfect chemistry but he was the goddamn chemist.

Yes.

The Ramones illustrated this point themselves in the song “Commando” which later shared the name with Johnny’s autobiography (which I have NOT read)

The song, written by Dee Dee and Johnny lists four rules

First rule is "the laws of Germany"
Second rule is "be nice to mommy"
Third rule is "don't talk to Commies"
Fourth rule is "eat kosher salamis"

The first is for Dee Dee. The second Joey. Third Johnny. Fourth Tommy.

The 3rd Rule - it’s uniquely his.

It all depends on whether or not they listened to him. I've heard they didn't. I do hear that Joey had issues with his mother though so rule 2 might have been good.
