It really is. I remember first hearing that when I bought the remastered debut and just being like "WTF happened to the Ramones and did they make more of this?"

Damn I remember in the early 00's, when nu metal was still relevant and Creed was a thing, my local butt rock station introduced me to music in general. They played A LOT of **** that I lapped up like a good retard, but occasionally they would play this one weird song I always looked forward to but never really got a handle on. It was fun and catchy but also kind of a novelty song so I didn't know if I should take it seriously and laughed it off. And this is why I propose the Ramones never blew up like they should have. Unless you're either older or a child you can't figure out whether or not they're cool without guidance. They're simply too smart for teenagers.

Oh **** "I'm Against It" literally says "I don't like Burger King" so it's my new favorite song.

I can say very honestly, right from the heart, that I love Road to Ruin every bit as much as the first three. When I was around 16 Road to Ruin and Pleasant Dreams were my favorite Ramones records and I don’t think there’s anything at all wrong with that position.

Metal tinged hardcore circa 1981. Both SST bands out of LA.

Overkill and Stains

Not to be confused with other bands with the same names. Sometimes referred to as LA Overkill and LA Stains. Both bands deserve more recognition for helping to pioneer that sound.

I feel like this is an interview at this point but what do you think the Ramones had (if anything) over other contemporary bands when they made fast punk songs? For reference and fun:

All of those are unassailable

But why the Ramones?

Johnny has the best catchiest funnest riffs in rock history period. Joey is best singer in punkland by far. And the song writing - definitely with nods to Dee Dee is unequivocally the best. And even though they hated each other they have the best chemistry in the history (and future) of rock’n’roll.

Meat Puppets debut. Again early SST. Psychedelic avant garde hardcore punk. Great album. Hugely influential.

If you ever started your own band or made your own music on your own would the Ramones inform your music and how?
