imo Nirvana is punk but not Pearl Jam. Grunge bands are usually punk or metal but not usually both. Mudhoney is definitely more on the punk side

I'd say Nirvana is closer to punk that Pearl Jam, which is more blues based, but I have a feeling Cobain wasn't too crazy about labels.

Tristan and Charles are right. Nirvana is punk and elph can die mad about it. I'm not even sure I would call Pearl Jam grunge, it's just hard rock

So are we agreeing post punk isn't punk too? Cause if we're sticking to "three chord hey go let's go" then sure they're not quite pure punk, but by your own standards you're being a hypocrite.

And even purity testing doesn't make this not punk.
