Ok.

you get these things not because you play power chord riffs but because your production is lofi and your equipment is cheap and your singer can't sing on key and nobody has a real sense of keeping time nor could they give a **** about it
Apparently you never their heard early stuff.

Revisionism. The whole point of punk was to reject mainstream. That's what the sound was born from. Pop punk bands take that sound and use it in a more mainstream way.

at the same time it's separate from say de facto exp music as punk bands have always embraced pop hooks and verse chorus verse chorus

I've heard the comparison to Buzzcocks but Buzzcocks are like other 70's punk bands but with prettier guitar tones sort of pre-dating shoegaze nothing like 90's "pop punk"

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

at least Longview and stuff is like Nirvana where it's pretty good rock/pop music

I could make Nirvana seem like a punk band by posting songs with large 70's punk influence but at the end of the day there's a reason we came up with a separate genre for these bands
So you're just gonna avoid even trying to see the point I'm making?

You didn't find any similarities between those two? With the points you yourself made? Dissonance - check, lo-fi production, check, sloppy musicianship - check....

I am a very aware

this is the time where Pink Floyd was one of the biggest bands in the world

Really? Who would've thought?

could just be a confusion I typed pop hooks because I don't mean literally popular I mean pop as in catchy and simple song structures
Catchy and simple doesn't mean pop. They tend to go hand in hand with pop but it isn't pop. Otherwise pink Floyd would wouldn't be considered pop. And not to mention they were making music that wasn't in the mainstream. Aka, not pop.

By pop elphie means early Beatles or the Kinks. Punk rock was all about rejecting what they say as the needless complexity and self-indulgence of mainstream 70s rock and going back to that early, simple style of rock and then progressing from there as if Led Zeppelin and Yes had never happened.

I know what he means. I understand it. But I think it's dumb. Pop means popular. So if the sound wasn't popular then it's not pop.
