Yeah, that's why I like it a lot better. The New Life had a few lively tracks but all the others got a bit bland.

I think they're more garage punk/rock and noise rock, and some earlier stuff was post-hardcore. I liked about half of their 2011 album Leave Home but I've been less and less interested in subsequent albums. A few songs on Open Your Heart but New Moon was absolute shit and I didn't listen to the one after that. I found them a bit all over the place stylistically but the truth is I just found most of the songs to be shit. But that's beside the point. I don't think they're post-punk at all.

Protomartyr's new album is pretty fantastic.

Really? I hear at least a little post-punk in their sound, especially in Leave Home and Open Your Heart if nothing else.

Ah, it's a great band too whatever. I can see why you would think that though, but I kind of like the smorgasbord of influences.

There's a punk edge to all of post-hardcore though. That's where it comes from.

In a sense, one could argue that post-hardcore is to the 90s what post-punk was to the 80s. 70s punk lead to post-punk, hardcore punk lead to post-hardcore.

I think I said this exact thing earlier in the thread, though worded differently.

Yeah that's pretty much punk fact, but I think we were arguing more over if The Me. Hae elements of post-punk or not. It really doesn't matter, because either way I consider tem as such and like them thoroughly, but the debate remains open.

^ I heard about them last week but didn't dig the vocals very much.
