Newer Punk bands?
Are there any good punk bands that formed within the last 5-10 years? All the bands I'm familiar with are bands that were prevalent in the 70s, 80s, or 90s (and maybe very early 2000s). Though I love "classic" punk, I'm just looking to get into some newer music within this genre and wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

There was a hardcore revival back in the mid/late 00's with bands like Gallows, Ghost of a Thousand & TRC from the UK; Terror, Cancer Bats & Code Orange, from North America ect.
It's incredibly hard for underground bands to make a living these days though, with all the free downloading, so I couldn't really tell you what's popular. Most bands have second jobs now, they last a few years and that's it. I did this a few years ago as my swan song to the genre... http://www.musicbanter.com/punk/6613...countdown.html |
This is one of my favorite sons at the moment. |

This is a great sorta modern punk band, although this record came out in 2002. Their second album just came out, it's good too. |

Its just that up here in Canada-zakastan :) the whole conservative evangelical culture is less pronounced. (Our Conservatism is in more of the British Tory tradition) For instance, I remember driving down to Oregon this year and seeing a bunch of people standing over the highway overhead, waving in glee with signs that said Jesus Saves and I was like...Wow! you don't see that in Canada. So I'm assuming your the real deal??? I mean, I don't mean any disrespect, its just different for me, not in a bad way, just in as wow!. that's different..I'm fascinated by it. |
