and i have to say Rudimentary Peni is right up your alley man.....great punk rock with smart lyrics deal with social issues....and layered heavily with gothic tones....very dark stuff and a must for fans of good punk who also love and respect goth greats like Alien sex Fiend and Bauhaus i just want to point out that my list....and this was only to make it easier for myself does not include bands that i would consider to be more than just a punk band....ie Jawbreaker and RFTC as well as any and all "post punk" acts also Psy Fi....i'm glad to see more Wipers....uit was really hard for me to choose from their first three albums.....Is It Real? just rocks me a tad bit more that Youth of America :) |

I think you're right "garagey, proto-punk" is more accurate description of the sound. |

When listening to the whole album, I've listened more to Chamberlain Waits. In other words, I like more songs on Chamberlain Waits, So I actually think it's better as an album. It's just that On The Impossible past has some of their best songs. My personal favourite songs on Chamberlain Waits are: ''I was Born'', ''Home Outgrown'', ''Tasker- Morris Station'', ''Rivalries'' and ''Chamberlain Waits''.. |
Came to this thread for the only purpose of find the person that would make the mistake of listing any Green Day album as a top ten Punk album. I wanted to laugh. Screw you all for having good taste.
...I don't have a list, sadly. But I approve of all the ones here so far. Carry on. |

Bad Brains Suicidal Tendencies My War Damaged Double Nickels On The Dime Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables Milo Goes To College Damned Damned Damned Static Age Ramones |
Never have been much of a fan for "Punk"
|
Poison Idea - Kings of Punk
FEAR - The Record The Exploited - Beat the Bastards Poison Idea - Feel the Darkness Wolfbrigade - Prey to the World Inepsy - City Weapons Wasted Time - Futility White Lung - Deep Fantasy Post Regiment - Czarzły Pisschrist - Victims of Faith |
I haven't listened to Deep Fantasy yet. Top ten status?
|
I've never given much time to classics, so my top 10 lists across most genres always seem to be missing a lot of givens (in this case hey EPOCH6 where's the Bad Brains, Black Flag, Misfits, Adolescents etc). I've got a nasty thing for White Lung and it's likely clouding my judgement in the face of the obvious giants of punk, so no it's probably not universal top 10 material at all, but personally I loved it. If you enjoy their past work you'll enjoy the new LP, it's pretty much another improvement upon their already established sound, maybe a bit more visceral.
|
Is it awful to say I'm surprised to see the Adolescents mentioned a couple times?
Don't get me wrong, it's a good album. Rick Agnew's guitar playing is awesome and fits in surprisingly well during his stay with Christian Death. But top 10? |
