Exploited F The USA USA
Hi,
first time poster and by the venturing into the punk section first, you can guess I'm a fan of the genre. I like The exploited a lot and as such I often wonder how US punk fans feel about their classic FTUSA track. So let's here it. Do you think it's anti American or is it just a 100% anti-movement track ? |

My mom says I should not listen to FTUSA because it is bad.

I first heard the song when I was fourteen and it immediately resonated with me because I was one of those self conscious kids who didn't like being pressured into having to wear brand name clothes to be popular.
I came from the social housing edge of town, while the kids on the other side of the tracks came from good homes, had flashy clothing, and brothers with fancy cars. They were also extremely obnoxious, so it wasn't hard to hate what they standed for, which from my perspective was American exported materialism. (I'm Canadian) So when I first heard **** the USA the song was like a god sent and I immediately became an Exploited fan. I personally think the Exploited were the best of the UK82 bands but it is when they started to get heavy into the effects pedals that I think they really hit their stride. The song "My Life" off of Horror Epics is great, as is the Jesus is Dead ep, up to the Massacre album. |
Cuban? :)
i had to actually pull this up on youtube....i don't know....it's a little catchy but i could never get into this type of punk and their fans (not all...but a good portion) are the same people i spent most of my young life fighting as an American....i honestly could give two shits that he hates the usa....i myself have very little respect for our government...or at least the people running it and i'm positive that when they play this here...the crowd fucking errupts |

Could never get into that type of punk Gorilla Biscuit!!! No GBH? Broken Bones? Amebix? I should have you shot for rebelling against the punk collective. :) |
I also like Youth of Today as well as most late 80s early 90s hardcore....you know bands like Rorschach Snapcase, Integrity and Quicksand :)
hmmmm all amazing hardcore acts that did not make the cut!:nono: it's not like I hate The Exploited...actually I like the albums Let's Start a Warand Death Before Dishonor....as for GBH....how can you not like a band that sings about necrophelia? and how can you lump Amebix in with them? Amebix wrote songs about social slavery, drugs for schizophrenia, nuclear war, and worship of pre christian gods.....whereas Exploited wote such classics as **** the Mods, Sex and Violence, and Sid Vicicious Was Innocent |

As for Amebix ,well I was lumping all those bands together fashion wise (spikey hair, combat boots ect) but yes I recognize that they're a different kettle of fish, and that the Exploited wasn't high in the IQ department, but they phoned Ronald Reagan....f(ckin president Ronald Reagan!!! (the end of the song) |
^not bad...not bad at all
and that cover :) i forgot that you added bands to the list....opening that thread practically crashes my computer due to all of the youtube vids :) |
Lol, I haven't actually looked at the thread since I ended it, though I was thinking of shamelessly bumping it with all the $hitty Green Day posts dominating fb.
To be honest I could have done a lot better job, as I was improvising my way through the whole thing. I just remember going online and seeing all these crappy best punk artists list on sites like Rate Your Music, and thought I could do way better than that. So if you ever want to revamp a list with your input let me know. In the meantime all this Exploited talk has me thinking of doing another review on my journal, but to be honest I'm more of a soul and hip hop guy these days. |
You say F the USA I say F Costa Rica and Portugal.
