The hardcore fans (and it's a real subset of people in my age group, i.e. millennials) seem to be pretentious in a way I find corny as opposed to any numbers of ways I embrace, that's all. Like a particular sub-type of reddit ****
Their music is also extremely not for me but who cares I also know a couple of fans who are pretty cool Quote:

Sex Pistols, mainly because I love John Lydon (and PiL) and find him fascinating and hilarious and could listen to him talk the livelong day. Plus major bonus points for the way he loves and takes care of his ill wife.

I love the Pistols but Lydon's support of Trump is not cool or very punk. Even if he's just being a contrarian edgelord it still has the vibe of a 4chan "oh I'm just ironically racist" schtick. It's not funny or charming, it's just childish.

Per the thread question, I guess the Ramones are overall probably a better band - they've got a better catalog and had more longevity. But if I had to choose between living in a world where one or the other didn't exist, I'd probably keep the Pistols, just for the massive amount of influence they've had on other bands. |

Agreed. He certainly has, um, contradictory opinions on a range of topics. He also supported President Obama and Hillary Clinton - so go figure. |

She has gone full conspiracy loon allegedly. There is a great, thorough interview series called the women on rock oral history project (I think) and I haven't seen Lydia's interview yet but the one with Exene (which is otherwise a nice interview) spirals into conspiracy weirdness and I've heard that the Lydia Lunch one is similar
