"joy division" like bands what do you think?
Last 5 years there are a lot bands reminding directly this era. Which of cource i love but the influences are so obvious...
What do you think about it? |
? rephrase that for me... what do I thinki about Joy Division influenced artists? Or, Joy Division era? I mean I could be reading that assbackwards...which might be the case... But I need a clearer question to be able to answer...
Interpol, white lies, editors all are based on the same recipe
Interpol just had their 10 year anniversary for Turn On the Bright Lights btw... I love Interpol, I don't think that there is anything wrong, with using a recipe that worked for one band and modifying and using it again on a first album, as you go on and listen through the rest of their albums to they do eventually, find their own sound, and to say otherwise, you haven't really heard them... White Lies, I haven't heard but I will give it a listen.. The Editors, are ok, certainly not bad albums but not ones I can't wait to get home and spin.. Again there is nothing wrong with being influenced by a group that were ahead of their time.. How many bands would there be if there were no...dare I say it beatles?
You might be right for the interpol but ... Everytime i hear a new song from one of these bands i get confused.
because you mistake them for Joy Division, seeing as how Ian Curtis has been dead for 30 years or so...how are you confused...
I don't do forth rate imitators.
No they don't do you...
I think people exaggerate this whole Joy Division copy bands, Just take each band for what they are. No point trying to compare them to Joy Division.
^ true but you can't help but see the similarities in their work...Tone, song structure, even vocals, hell I have seen some where the only thing that was missing was an Ian Curtis impersonator...
